Hasloh: Forest Paths, Playgrounds and Local History
Accommodation in Hasloh
Hasloh brings together forest, outdoor activities and local history. The Hasloher Gehege, also known locally as Pfingstwald, lies in the western part of the town; it is a forestry estate belonging to the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests. A circular route around five kilometres long has been laid out there as a forest nature trail and can be used for walking or jogging.
Forest and Paths in Hasloh
Hasloh is part of the Rantzauer Forst recreation area on the outskirts of Hamburg. The larger area is connected to regional cycling routes and the local network of cycle and walking paths. Additional cycling and skating routes pass through Hasloh or start in the town. This lets you compare the circular route on foot with other types of routes; check the current routes before planning your visit. Pinneberger Fahlt is a wooded area in the Pinneberg municipal forest, used for walking, jogging and sports.
Climbing and Outdoor Activities in Pfingstwald
The Hasloh high ropes course is also located in Pfingstwald. It offers more than 100 climbing and obstacle-course stations at various difficulty levels, a trained team and activities for all age groups. A children’s course is for visitors aged six and over who are between 1.20 and 1.70 metres tall. Check these age and height requirements before your visit, as they may change. The facilities also include a secured base jump from a 13-metre platform; check in advance whether it is available.
Public Playgrounds
Hasloh has three public playgrounds: Flashorn, Robinson Playground and Heidkamp. Robinson Playground is the largest playground in Hasloh. It has a paved area for skateboarding and inline skating, a basketball hoop and a beach volleyball court. Facilities and available activities may change. Alongside the forest nature trail and high ropes course, these offer more ways to enjoy outdoor activities.
Events and Local History
Every year at Whitsun, a concert featuring various music groups takes place in Pfingstwald, attracting hundreds of visitors. The exact event dates may vary, so check the date before making plans.
Hasloh was first mentioned in 1253, under the name “Herslo”. The town’s history also includes the historic Ochsendrift, a livestock route from Schleswig to Wedel. From 1884, Hasloh was connected by the railway line from Altona towards Kaltenkirchen.
Since 2024, Hasloh has had 25 information boards about buildings that no longer exist. They combine short stories with locations of the former buildings marked on a map. A copy of the plan is displayed in the large noticeboard next to the school; check the current status of the boards during your visit.
