Discover Hasselberg on the Baltic Sea
Accommodation in Hasselberg
Hasselberg brings together the Baltic Sea coast and rural landscapes: the municipality is a state-recognised holiday resort right on the Baltic Sea, surrounded by fertile fields and natural meadows. There are several options for your stay: the beach, outdoor activities, a barefoot park and a building with links to regional history. This lets you include nature and culture in your travel plans alongside the coast.
The beach and getting your bearings in Hasselberg
The beach at Hasselberg has designated areas for naturists and dogs. The 4-kilometre Kronsgaard/Hasselberg bathing beach is supervised by the DLRG during the season. The tourist information office is located right on the B199 and is considered easy to reach.
There is also specific information to help you plan a beach visit: two beach chairs can be reached by wheelchair via a paved path. However, the accessible beach entrance does not extend all the way to the water. A free beach wheelchair is available at the water rescue station; toilets are located at the DLRG station. If these facilities are important for your visit, check the latest information in advance.
Barefoot park and circular trail
The barefoot park in Hasselberg offers barefoot, sensory and balance stations along a route of more than 1.5 kilometres. Surfaces include moorland, peat and wood. The attractions also include a petting zoo with native animals and an 18-hole mini-golf course. The activities range from sensory and balance challenges to animal encounters and mini-golf.
The Deichwege & Waldpfade circular trail near Hasselberg offers another way to experience the landscape. It is 4.82 kilometres long, follows a circular route and is rated as moderately difficult. The route runs along the sea between Hasselberg and Kronsgaard and passes through woodland and open meadows. It starts at Hasselberg campsite, right next to the Baltic Sea beach. Check the latest route information before setting off.
The mill and nature nearby
The Johannesmühle is a cultural monument linked to the history of mill construction in Schleswig-Holstein. It is a two-storey gallery Dutch windmill: the wooden mill body stands on an octagonal masonry base, and the tower and cap are thatched. The combination of wood, masonry and thatch makes its design a distinctive architectural feature of Hasselberg.
The nearby Geltinger Birk nature reserve adds to the range of attractions. It covers 773 hectares on a peninsula at the entrance to the Flensburg Fjord. Around 170 bird species can be observed there over the course of a year. Guided walks with a nature warden are regularly offered; check the latest dates in advance.
When looking for accommodation in Hasselberg, it helps to decide first what you want to focus on during your trip: the beach, circular trail and barefoot park offer different options, while the Geltinger Birk provides opportunities to observe nature nearby.
