Schömberg brings together views, trails and activities that can be combined to create very different kinds of holiday days. At the Himmelsglück observation tower, the top platform is 50 metres high; from there, the view extends across the Northern Black Forest and far beyond. Accessible experience trails, a seasonal barefoot path, puzzles and activities in the spa park each offer something different. The season also plays a role in planning: alongside trails and cycling options, there are winter activities.

Views and trails

The accessible AugenBlick-Runde Schömberg is 2.1 kilometres long and leads to the Himmelsglück observation tower. It starts at car parks P1/P2 on Schwarzwaldstraße, opposite the Kurhaus. The route therefore links a specific starting point with the observation destination. Another accessible experience trail is “Schömberg with All the Senses”.

The Schömberg barefoot path offers a different kind of experience: this approximately 800-metre course takes just under half an hour to walk and passes over more than 20 different materials. The path is a seasonal attraction, open from May to October. Compared with the 2.1-kilometre AugenBlick-Runde, it is shorter and has an approximate duration. Its length and duration provide practical guidance when fitting walks into your daily plans; the trails also offer different kinds of experiences.

Puzzles, activities and the spa park

From the observation tower, the Blackforest Flyline runs for over 500 metres and the Blackforest Flying Fox for over 600 metres down to the spa park. Their different lengths provide a concrete point of comparison between the two attractions. Before visiting, check the latest operating information for the tower and flight attractions.

There is also a mini-golf course in the spa park. At Anni’s Black Forest Mystery in Schömberg, visitors solve puzzles and complete tasks to restore the lost happiness of the “lucky community”. The Generations Activity Park has more than 20 pieces of play equipment: they require dexterity and strength, help develop a sense of balance or are simply for play. If you are travelling with children, you can weigh up different ways to spend time together—from solving puzzles and being active to playing mini golf. The activities vary in character and can be added to your daily plans according to your interests.

Forest, cycling and winter tours

The spa and therapeutic forest is open to tourists, local residents, clinic patients and other groups of users. Twelve hiking routes are offered in and around Schömberg; the selection may change over time. For cycling, the municipality has an extensive network of forest roads and trails with climbs of varying difficulty. When planning a route, you can therefore consider what kind of path and climb you are looking for.

Further afield in the region, the premium Zollernblickweg walking trail runs for 7.2 kilometres around Oberlengenhardt. It starts at the Oberlengenhardt Schützenhaus. It adds another option for anyone considering a regionally located hike as well as the routes in and around Schömberg.

In winter, the Eulenloch near Schömberg has the lowest-altitude drag lift in the Northern Black Forest. The Hengstbergloipe is one of the cross-country ski trails in the Northern Black Forest rated as medium difficulty. These winter activities have different conditions from the other trails: check the lift’s current operating status and the trail conditions in advance.

Choose accommodation to suit your plans

If the observation tower and AugenBlick-Runde are the focus of your stay, you may be interested in different activities than if you are planning a stay with puzzles, mini golf and activities in the spa park. For cycling or winter days, the routes you want to take and their conditions may be deciding factors. Also take into account the barefoot path’s season and the changing selection of hiking routes. This way, you can tailor your search to your planned holiday days without trying to fit every activity into a single itinerary.
