Discover Eichendorf: Weekly Market and Outdoor Pool
Accommodation in Eichendorf
A weekly market, an outdoor pool and a cycling-tour idea nearby give a stay in Eichendorf different rhythms throughout the day. The wider Dingolfing-Landau destination also offers other cultural and scenic attractions. You can choose your accommodation based on the experiences you want to focus on.
Weekly Market and Outdoor Pool in Eichendorf
The Eichendorf weekly market takes place every Saturday from 7 am to 12 noon in the market square. Since the market visit falls on Saturday morning, you can plan it as a separate activity with a set time frame. Check the date locally before you arrive.
Eichendorf Outdoor Pool offers a different rhythm for the day. All pools are heated. The wide-wave slide is 25 metres long and 3 metres wide, with an entry height of 4.26 metres. The outdoor pool also has a children’s playground, a football pitch and a beach volleyball court. Swimming, playing and ball games are all available, so you can choose different activities when planning your day. Opening hours vary depending on the season and weather, so check the times before your visit.
A Break by the Water on a Cycling Tour
There is another place to take a break by the water near the destination for cyclists: further along the Vilstal Cucumber Cycling Route, they can cool off in a bathing pond near Wisselsdorf. This is different from visiting the outdoor pool in Eichendorf: here, a refreshing swim is part of a cycling-tour idea rather than making the swimming area itself the day’s destination.
Culture and Scenery in the Wider Dingolfing-Landau Destination
In Landau’s old town, original archaeological finds at Kastenhof Landau tell the story of the time of the first farmers. Hands-on replicas, striking images and the lifelike figure of Lisar, a Neolithic woman, bring this past to life. The Landau Local History Museum in the 250-year-old Weißgerberhaus offers a different focus: it showcases rural domestic culture, faith and piety, Landau’s town history, middle-class living and self-presentation, as well as crafts in the town. Its focus is on the 19th century.
The landscape and opportunities to be active are also part of the wider Dingolfing-Landau destination. The “Vilstal near Marklkofen” nature reserve covers almost 175 hectares and provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. Lake Vilstal, which covers around 100 hectares, is located within the nature reserve and invites visitors to go hiking and cycling. The lake also offers opportunities for boating, sailing and surfing. This gives visitors a choice between routes on foot or by bike and various activities on the water.
The Dingolfing Museum spans three historic buildings in the Upper Town: the Herzogsburg, the Pfleghof and the Getreidekasten. It presents Dingolfing’s urban and industrial history from the Neolithic period to the present day, offering another perspective on the long history of the wider Dingolfing-Landau destination.
