Rimbach offers two distinct reasons to stay: the Rimbach hiking trail, a circular route through the area around Rimbach, and the Lanz Museum in Rimbach-Mitterrohrbach. This lets you combine time on the trail with a dedicated museum visit. The wider Rottal-Inn destination offers more besides—from thermal waters and theater to hiking and cycling trails.

Hiking Trail and Museum in Rimbach

The Rimbach hiking trail starts at an inn in Rimbach and leads through the surrounding area before returning to its starting point. Within the municipality, it passes through Sallach, by St. Ulrich’s Church, and via Aichet to Döding. The route offers a clearly defined circuit, passing several named places along the way.

St. Ulrich’s Church in Sallach is probably a former castle church. This cautious description lends the church a historical note without presenting its former function as certain. The Lanz Museum in Rimbach-Mitterrohrbach can be visited by prior arrangement by telephone. Be sure to arrange your visit with the museum in advance. Unlike the circular trail, a museum visit requires prior coordination.

Rottal-Inn: Thermal Waters, Theater and Gothic Architecture

Within the wider Rottal-Inn destination, the Rottal Terme is a distinct attraction. It has more than 30 pleasantly warm thermal-water pools, ranging from 26 to 40°C, as well as 13 different saunas and steam baths. Facilities also include a 105-meter-long thermal river and health, prevention and wellness services. The number of facilities and individual amenities may change as renovations are carried out; check the latest information before visiting.

The Theater an der Rott also offers a regular cultural program, with premieres every year in drama, musicals, concerts, dance, operetta and opera. The individual productions change. It is the only theater in Germany owned by a district.

The “Gothic Tours” introduce locals and tourists to selected Gothic monuments. Brochures and maps are available, along with the tour portal and the Gothic portal. The Gothic portal also offers audio guides to Gothic buildings that can be accessed on site, as well as an online museum with information, educational resources and learning activities. Digital offerings may evolve; check what is currently available before planning your visit.

For outdoor activities, the Rottal-Inn leisure region has a well-developed, extensive network of trails spanning several hundred kilometers for hikers and cyclists. The Inn Cycle Path runs through the Lower Inn European Nature Reserve and offers a wide range of insights into the region’s flora and fauna. The Rottaler Farm Tour offers a different focus: its experience program explores rural life, everyday work, wildlife, farming culture, traditional crafts and handicraft techniques, as well as regional cuisine.

This distinction can help you decide what kind of stay you are looking for before you search for accommodation in Rimbach.
