Künzelsau combines discoveries in the city forest with art, culture and opportunities for active days. A 3.5-kilometre adventure trail, changing exhibitions and specific cycling and hiking options give your stay different focuses. This lets you weigh up whether you would prefer to plan a short route with interactive stations, a cultural visit or a longer tour for your trip.

City forest and guided discoveries

The nature adventure trail runs for 3.5 kilometres through Künzelsau’s city forest. Along the way, interactive stations invite you to give things a try. These include balancing on wooden posts, a barefoot path, a tree drum, chime bars, a throwing station and a marble run. The variety of stations gives the route more than one focus and offers specific ways to discover things together.

If you would rather get to know Künzelsau on a guided tour, the “Discover and Experience Künzelsau” town tour takes place on the first Saturday of every month at 11 am and lasts about an hour and a half. Check the town’s website for current packages before your visit. For independent exploration, Künzelsau recommends a route that uses QR codes on the buildings. If you plan to rely on individual codes, check the signage before setting out.

Art and culture around Würth

Kulturhaus Würth houses the public private library Frau Holle, with more than 10,000 books. Discover art outdoors in the Würth Sculpture Garden at the Carmen Würth Forum / Museum Würth 2 in Künzelsau, where more than 70 sculptural works by around 40 artists are on display. Museum Würth focuses on 20th- and 21st-century art. Presentations from its own collection, featuring paintings, prints and sculpture, alternate with special exhibitions supplemented by loans.

The architecture of Museum Würth 2 is also part of the visit: the elongated building, with around 1,000 square metres of exhibition space, stands in front of the glass cube of the Carmen Würth Forum cultural and congress centre, which opened in 2017. “Space Art” offers another exhibition perspective. This interactive exhibition has been located on the second floor since April 2024 and presents school art, digital art, science and space exploration.

Museum Würth is a five-minute walk from the Gaisbach Kur/Museum bus stop via Reinhold-Würth-Straße. Check the current bus service separately when planning your journey. This lets you plan your museum visit precisely without confusing the walking directions with a statement about the current timetable.

Cycling and hiking: specific route options

For mountain bikers, the SVM-Bikers section of SV Morsbach maintains a small trail centre in Künzelsau city forest (Taläcker), currently with two trails and an uphill trail. As trail conditions can change, check the latest information before setting out. The Würth Bike Park is a pump track on the Ballenwasen sports grounds; it was completed in 2022.

For a longer hike, a 17-kilometre route runs from Künzelsau via Schloss Stetten to Langenburg, or in the opposite direction. This gives you a choice of route lengths to help with planning: the 3.5-kilometre nature adventure trail and the 17-kilometre route to Langenburg. These details help you weigh up which route fits your day’s plans without presupposing a walking time or level of difficulty.

Explore the wider Hohenlohe district

The Hohenlohe district also offers ways to explore the region: numerous cycle paths run through the Hohenlohe hills, framed by the deeply cut river valleys of the Kocher, Jagst and Ohrn. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Limes runs in a straight line through the Hohenlohe district. Three Limes viewing platforms offer wide-ranging views across the landscape. These regional perspectives complement the attractions in Künzelsau without conflating them with the town’s local experiences.
