Meckenbeuren offers families and other travelers a variety of holiday experiences: a large amusement park, indoor play, marked walking trails and culture. For many, Ravensburger Spieleland alone is worth the trip. Walking, local history and regional cuisine can also shape a stay.

Family time between the amusement park and indoor play

Ravensburger Spieleland has more than 70 attractions and eight themed areas. Children can ride a roller coaster and enjoy impressive playgrounds. For many, the park is a destination in its own right, so its attractions can be the main focus of a stay.

The “Lufti” indoor play area offers a different experience: this large indoor playground in Meckenbeuren gives children space to play. There are different play environments to choose from—rides and playgrounds at Ravensburger Spieleland, or indoor play at Lufti.

Exploring on foot: walking trails and the Jubilee Trail

The third stage of the Jubilee Trail leads from Meckenbeuren station to Markdorf station. It is about 20 kilometers long and takes approximately five hours on foot. The Brochenzeller Forest has three marked walking trails, measuring 4.5, 7 and 12 kilometers. The options therefore range from several shorter trails to a longer stage with an approximate walking time of five hours.

There is also a rail connection for getting here: Meckenbeuren is on the Ulm–Friedrichshafen railway line and has two stops served by the Bodensee-Oberschwaben-Bahn on the Friedrichshafen–Ravensburg–Aulendorf route. Check the current timetable before traveling.

Culture, local history and regional cuisine

Kultur am Gleis 1 in Meckenbeuren is a venue for comedy, cabaret, theater, concerts and talks. It occupies the more than 140-year-old building of a former goods shed. A former mail coach is also integrated into the foyer and is now used as a bar.

The museum in Humpisschloss brings the history of trade in earlier centuries to life and provides information about the trading expeditions of the Counts of Humpis. St. James’ Church in Brochenzell offers a pilgrim’s perspective: it serves as a place for spiritual reflection and highlights Meckenbeuren’s importance on the pilgrimage route.

Regional cuisine includes Restaurant Schloss Brochenzell in Meckenbeuren. It is known and popular for its delicious and varied regional dishes made with fresh ingredients. Alongside play, outdoor activities and culture, food is another reason to visit.

The wider Bodenseekreis area

The Bodenseekreis stretches along almost the entire northern shore of Lake Constance in Baden-Württemberg, reaching into the Upper Swabian Hills and, to the east, the West Allgäu Hills. The Bodenseekreis has 57.7 kilometers of Lake Constance shoreline. Its landscape is shaped by the lake and the adjoining hills, with orchards, vineyards, meadows and forests.

Other visitor attractions are also part of the wider Bodenseekreis destination. The visitor route at the Unteruhldingen Pile Dwellings includes the ARCHAEORAMA multimedia show, which features a virtual dive to the pile dwellings in Lake Constance. Bodensee-Therme Überlingen combines thermal bathing, sauna infusions, its own beach and panoramic views of Lake Constance and the Alps. These examples broaden the picture of the Bodenseekreis without replacing Meckenbeuren’s local highlights.
