Rosenberg can be explored through its art, Bible Garden, and trails. At the Old Town Hall, you can see works by two painters closely connected with the town; the Sieger Köder Center displays works in many forms. The Bible Garden complements the artistic themes with plants and illustrated panels. Cycling and hiking trails offer a different perspective for planning your trip. This lets you choose whether to focus on art, nature, or outdoor activities.

Art and plants in Rosenberg

The “Altes Rathaus” gallery and museum in Rosenberg exhibit works by the artists Sieger Köder and Karl Stirner, both closely connected with Rosenberg. The Sieger Köder Center features drawings, original stained-glass windows, sculptures, pictures, photos, and videos by Sieger Köder. These different forms offer you various perspectives on his work, from drawings to video.

The Bible Garden at the Sieger Köder Center is a theme area of its own. It has eight illustrated panels and more than 60 plant species, arranged in the order in which they appear in the Bible. For families looking to include art and nature in a shared program, this offers several ways to explore: the panels invite you to take a closer look, while the sequence of plants establishes a biblical connection. The gallery, museum, center, and garden offer a range of subjects, rather than just one way to engage with the art in town.

Trails in different formats

The 2021 municipal leisure guide gives an approximate cycling time of three and a half hours for the “Around Rosenberg” tour. It also describes a circular route that starts in the center of Rosenberg, passes the Holzmühlenweiher, the Orrotsee car park, and the Herlingsweiher, and returns to Rosenberg. The Franconian–Swabian Way of St. James / HW4 runs through Rosenberg and Hohenberg on the stretch from Mainkling to Adelmannsfelden. The three descriptions differ in format: a cycling tour with an approximate travel time, a circular route returning to its starting point, and a stretch that places Rosenberg along a longer route.

More places to discover in the Ostalb district

In the wider Ostalb district travel destination, independent attractions in Rainau and Lorch add Roman heritage and monastic history to the picture. In Limes Park Rainau, the finest sections and most significant individual monuments of the Limes have been preserved in a unique concentration. A reconstructed watchtower offers panoramic views across the Ostalb. The Limestor Dalkingen is a unique structure along the entire Limes route between the Rhine and the Danube. The Limes circular hiking trail near Rainau is about 11 kilometers long and takes approximately two and a half hours on foot. It leads from the Limes wall and tower between Buch and Schwabsberg through the “Mahdholz” forest, following the Limes to the southern edge of Schwabsberg.

Lorch Abbey offers a different focus. It was founded in 1102 by the first Hohenstaufen, Frederick I, and his wife Agnes of Waiblingen as a burial place. The complex includes a medieval church, the cloister and outbuildings, as well as the Marsilius Tower, with views of the abbey complex, the herb garden, the sensory garden, and the surrounding area. The permanent exhibition tells the story of 900 years of monastic history, including through the magnificently decorated Lorch choir books. In the Ostalb district, Roman and monastic history are therefore also available as distinct areas of interest alongside Rosenberg’s art and nature themes.
