Neutraubling between lakes, culture and activity
Accommodation in Neutraubling
Neutraubling combines leisure activities at two lakes with culture, exercise and digital experiences. Neutraubling Lake at Schlangenbau is an inviting place to spend time and relax in any season. A little farther away, about one kilometre east of Neutraubling as the crow flies, lies Guggenberger Lake. A circular walking trail runs around it and can also be used for jogging. This offers a choice of different activities: relaxing at Neutraubling Lake or taking a walk or jog around Guggenberger Lake.
Lakes, exercise and leisure
Two sailing clubs, a windsurfing club and a surfing school are located directly on Guggenberger Lake. There is also a specially designated, separate area for surfers, sailors and divers. The circular trail and the water sports area offer different ways to enjoy the same lake: exercising along the shore and activities on the water. This can help with planning if you are deciding whether to spend your time at the lake walking or taking part in water sports.
The town also offers leisure activities away from the water. The 3D Funhouse in Neutraubling offers on-site virtual reality experiences with several VR games. The BGC Neutraubling minigolf centre has a panoramic terrace where coffee and cake are served after a game. As the offer may change, check what is currently available before your visit if needed.
Culture in town
The newly built Kulturhaus is a central venue in Neutraubling’s cultural life. Neutraubling Lake also provides the setting for the Neutraubling cultural festivals. Together, these offer two distinct settings: a central cultural venue and a festival backdrop by the water.
There is an important planning note concerning the Neutraubling Museum: On 24 September 2026, the town announced that the museum is closed until further notice for refurbishment work. A new concept at a different location, in new premises, is planned. The museum’s closed location and its planned new concept are therefore separate considerations when planning a cultural stay.
Cycling and walking connections
Neutraubling is connected to the Danube Cycle Path and the Jurasteig trail. This means that cycling and hiking are both options to consider when planning a tour. The lakes, route connections and activities in town offer different ways to spend time in Neutraubling.
In the wider Regensburg destination
In the wider Regensburg destination, the Walhalla is one of Germany’s notable Neoclassical buildings. Its exterior features a Doric design with 52 columns. Since 1842, this memorial and hall of honour on the Danube has paid tribute to notable Germans and people associated with German history through marble busts and commemorative plaques. Its architecture and commemorative function give it a different focus from Neutraubling’s local leisure activities.
Also in the wider Regensburg destination, the nine-hectare Nepal-Himalaya Park is located in Wiesent. It brings together Asian culture and nature, with a Nepalese temple, a diverse perennial garden and numerous Asian works of art. The park also includes a Himalayan garden and a Chinese garden, as well as more than 6,200 different plant species. The gardens and plants offer another way to experience the culture and landscape of the wider destination.
From Easter to October, passenger boats operated by Klinger and Wurm & Noé travel on the Danube from Regensburg’s Stone Bridge to the foot of the Walhalla. Check the specific sailing days before your trip. There is also an approximately 20-minute walk over 358 steps from the bus stop to the Walhalla; as conditions on the route may change, it is advisable to check before visiting.
