Irschenberg combines a viewpoint above the A8 with coffee experiences and a rich ecclesiastical heritage. In Reichersdorf and Wilparting, architecture, art and tradition can be seen in specific places; there is also a cycling tour and far-reaching views across the Inn Valley. If you are planning a trip around different interests, you can choose between church art, a coffee experience, scenic views and outdoor activity.

Church Art and the Leonhardifahrt

In Reichersdorf stands the branch church of St. Leonhard, a late Gothic, four-bay hall church with a slightly recessed sanctuary closed on three sides. The plastered tuff-stone building was constructed and consecrated in 1496. A striking feature inside the church is the small late Gothic winged altar of St. Achatius by Erasmus Grasser, dating from 1506. Its figures depict the saint enthroned and surrounded by angels; the panel paintings tell the legend of St. Achatius.

Since 1684, St. Leonhard’s Church has been the focal point of the annual Leonhardifahrt in Reichersdorf. It takes place every year on the second Sunday in October. The church is therefore associated not only with late Gothic architecture and art, but also with an autumn tradition that continues to this day.

Wilparting, too, is associated with a religious tradition. The pilgrimage chapel there is dedicated to Saints Marinus and Anian. According to tradition, the Irish itinerant bishop Marinus and his deacon Anian were martyred at the site in 697, where Wilparting pilgrimage church now stands.

Coffee Experience, Views and Cycling Route

The public DINZLER coffee experience tour takes place once a month; booking and registration must be completed online in advance. The tour takes you through the DINZLER Coffee Experience World and gives you an insight into the work of the master roaster. If this experience fits your travel plans, take both its monthly schedule and the required online registration into account when planning.

The Irschenberg viewpoint is a pavilion on a small hill above the A8. From there, you can see across the Inn Valley, towards Wendelstein and Wilparting pilgrimage church. The viewpoint is a short walk from Irschenberg village square via StegangerstraĂźe; a route brochure also recommends the detour. The vantage point therefore combines practical orientation with panoramic views of notable landscapes and buildings.

For some outdoor activity, the cycling tour called “Irschenberg” is an option: it is 8.7 kilometres long, has 57 metres of elevation gain and is rated easy. It starts at the TSV Irschenberg sports club café and passes through the A8 underpass. The route also includes a short section on the St2077 and two crossings of the B472. These named road sections are as relevant to choosing the route as its rating and elevation gain.

Transport and Getting Around

Irschenberg is a few hundred metres from the Munich–Salzburg motorway. The DINZLER restaurant, with around 800 seats, is right by the Irschenberg exit on the A8.

Culture in the Wider Destination of Miesbach

The wider destination of Miesbach also includes cultural offerings in Miesbach itself. The Waitzinger Keller cultural centre hosts opera, operetta, musicals, cabaret, concerts, children’s events, traditional events and exhibitions throughout the year. With a core collection of more than 3,000 objects, the Miesbach local history museum presents the natural and cultural landscape of the Oberland region. Its collections include examples of Miesbach furniture painting, religious folk art from the Miesbach pilgrimage era, and tools and equipment from guilds and trades. They also include a farmhouse parlour, a shoemaker’s workshop and a hatmaker’s workshop. These cultural themes complement Irschenberg’s local history with a perspective rooted specifically in Miesbach.

You can tailor your search to the experiences you have planned.
