Discover Heideblick: Forests and village history
Accommodation in Heideblick
Between the Spreewald and Fläming, in the Niederlausitzer Landrücken Nature Park, lies Heideblick, where pine and mixed forests, village architecture and local cultural attractions come together. The forests are ideal for walks, cycling, horse riding and carriage rides. Medieval village churches, traditional regional farmsteads and historic sites such as a mill, a church ruin and a museum add further character to the villages. Here, active days outdoors meet stories of rural life.
Forests and trails through Heideblick
The main routes through the area include the B87, B96 and B102 federal highways, which cross Heideblick, as well as the RE5 Berlin–Dresden railway line, which runs through the municipality. When choosing accommodation, you can use your preferred daytime activities as a guide: forest activities, village and architectural history, or both. The different themes leave room for a variety of ways to discover Heideblick.
Village history in churches and a mill
The ruin of the Wüsten Church in Bornsdorf is both an archaeological and an architectural monument. At the same time, it remains a landmark visible from afar in the Bornsdorf cemetery. For visitors interested in historic buildings, it is a striking point of reference where heritage context meets the sight of a preserved church ruin.
The Goßmar Mill also represents local history: it is the last of eleven watermills on the Gehren-Goßmar Mill Stream. The villages are home to farmsteads typical of the region and medieval churches. The Protestant village church in Goßmar is listed as a Brandenburg cultural heritage monument under ID 09140500. The mill, farmsteads and churches offer different historical perspectives on Heideblick.
Cranes and cycling culture
The Döcke Village Museum in Bornsdorf focuses on village history, everyday life in the GDR and the history of the fire service. It is also located on Route 1 of the museum-linked cycling routes. For cycling enthusiasts, culture and activity come together here: the route has a museum connection, while the museum’s themes explore village life from several perspectives.
The village of Goßmar offers a different kind of nature experience: at the Borcheltbusch crane roost, you can watch cranes from a 20-metre-high observation tower. Unlike the buildings and museum exhibits, the focus here is on birds at their roost. When planning your trip, you can choose between wildlife watching and exploring cultural and historical sites.
Dahme-Spreewald as a wider cycling region
Beyond the local attractions, Dahme-Spreewald is worth exploring in its own right: in the district of Dahme-Spreewald, more than 1,000 kilometres of well-maintained, fully signposted cycle paths connect the landscapes and visitor attractions of the Spreewald and the Dahme Lake District. This offers a broader regional perspective than the individual places in Heideblick. Check the relevant route conditions before setting out.
