Discover Flieth-Stegelitz through its landscape, paths and village history. In Stegelitz, terminal moraines, lakes and forests shape the natural scenery; in Flieth, the Feldmark Circular Trail and the Wrietzensteig begin.

Moraine Landscape and Trails

Stegelitz lies on a terminal moraine ridge in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. Flieth lies between two terminal moraine ridges. Around Stegelitz, lakes, wet meadows, pastures and extensive deciduous forests shape the landscape. The variety of landscape features gives nature lovers more than one reason to look beyond the village and explore its surroundings.

The Feldmark Circular Trail begins in Flieth. After leaving the village, it passes through open, hilly farmland. The village hiking trail Wrietzensteig follows a different route: from Flieth, it heads towards Kaakstedt through the Eulenberge forest, across the MĂĽhlengraben stream and on to Lake Wrietzen. When choosing between the two trails, you can let the scenery guide you: open fields on the Feldmark Circular Trail, or forest and a route to the lake on the Wrietzensteig.

Cycling is another option in the area. Stegelitz lies directly on the Berlin–Usedom Long-Distance Cycle Route. A well-developed network of hiking trails in the northern Uckermark also gives access from Flieth to forests, meadows, fields, marshes and lakes; the routes can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Visitors to Stegelitz can take a break by the water at swimming spots on Lake Oberuckersee and Lake Jakobsdorfer See. Conditions on site may vary.

Village Churches and History

The church ruins in Flieth are the remains of a fieldstone church built in 1268, which burned down to its walls in 1945. The fieldstone church in Stegelitz has stood since the 13th century. The ribbed vault added during the renovation is the only one of its kind in a village church in the Uckermark and is considered a notable feature of architectural and historical value. The two church sites thus represent different aspects of village history: the ruins in Flieth and the historic church with its distinctive vault in Stegelitz.

Guided tours of Stegelitz village church are available by arrangement; please schedule a time in advance. This makes it easy to plan a visit around your interest in the architecture.

Brewery and Local Flavours

In Stegelitz, the village brewery “Die braut” brews beer on site. Its selection includes bottled and keg beer, as well as regular brews and seasonal specialities. Brewery tours and beer tastings are also available. If you are planning a visit, check the current options in advance.

Fresh regional produce was available at a weekly market held around the church. The 2026 market season ran until Friday, September 25; a new season is scheduled to begin in May 2027. These dates give the market a clear seasonal framework, while the brewery’s changing special beers add another facet to the local food and drink scene.

The Uckermark in a Wider Context

In the wider Uckermark travel region, Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park lies amid a landscape rich in water and gently rolling hills. The nature park encompasses clear-water lakes, kettle holes and marshes. Its attractions include more than 150 kilometres of water trails and over 600 kilometres of signposted hiking trails.

When choosing accommodation, the balance you want between activities can help you decide: hiking and cycling, swimming, village history or a visit to the brewery each offer a different focus. Flieth-Stegelitz gives you specific themes to help shape your travel plans.
