Haßleben: Lake Landscape and Village Church
Accommodation in Haßleben
Haßleben combines a varied landscape of lakes and cultural heritage with a medieval village church. When planning your trip, there are several themes to consider: a path along the lakeshore, the natural bathing area and the village church as a cultural and historical highlight. This lets you decide which experiences you want to shape your stay before choosing accommodation in Haßleben.
Lakes, wetlands and a lake shaped by the Ice Age
The “Kuhzer See-Klaushagen” nature reserve includes areas in fields 1, 4 and 5 in the Haßleben district. The varied cultural landscape is shaped by the Großer Trebowsee and Kuhzer See lakes. Natural lakeside margins alternate with wide areas of arable land and grassland; there are also numerous small bodies of water, groves of trees and deciduous woodland. Small patches of bog, wet and marshy meadows, swamp forests and reed beds complete the landscape mosaic. As a result, open spaces and bodies of water sit alongside groves and a range of wetland habitats within the village landscape. So a view of Haßleben need not be limited to a single lake: water, agriculture and natural areas together define the character of this cultural landscape.
Kuhzer See is a fold lake whose shape was formed by the Ice Age. The name adds a geological perspective to the landscape: alongside shores, fields and wetlands, the lake’s formation also shapes the surroundings.
Walking by the lake and visiting the natural bathing area
The “Haßlebener Lanke” path runs along the shore of Kuhzer See. The small natural bathing area on the lake lies between Haßleben and Kuhz and is accessible only on foot. You can leave your car just beyond the entrance to the path; from there, it is about a 200 m walk. On site, there is a shelter, benches and a wide sunbathing lawn with both shaded and sunny spots. The two places offer different experiences: here, a path follows the lakeshore; there, a sunbathing lawn and seating provide somewhere to take a break.
A fieldstone church with two historical periods
Haßleben Evangelical Village Church is a fieldstone church dating from the second half of the 13th century. Two paintings from the 18th century hang behind the altar. The construction date and paintings thus mark two distinct historical periods: the medieval fieldstone building and the later paintings give the church a clearly dated architectural and decorative history. For anyone wishing to include cultural history alongside the landscape in their trip plans, it is a highlight in its own right.
Getting your bearings and choosing accommodation
Haßleben is on the B 198 between Templin and Prenzlau; Boitzenburg is 9 km away. Haßleben is home to Thiemke, a small, well-stocked grocery shop. It sells drinks, everyday essentials, fresh rolls and bread, cakes, ice cream and barbecue specialities—a practical addition to the village’s nature and culture offerings.
This way, you can start choosing where to search based on the experiences that matter to your trip, rather than on a single attraction.
