Discover Boitzenburger Land
Accommodation in Boitzenburger Land
Boitzenburger Land can be explored through a wide range of themes: Renaissance architecture, a signposted cycling route, and waterways considered suitable for canoe trips. When planning, you can consider whether castle culture, longer cycling tours, or activities on the water should be the focus. These interests can also help guide you in your search for suitable accommodation.
Castle, Park, and Traces of Culture
Boitzenburg Castle is a Renaissance castle surrounded by Lenné Park. In the Uckermark, it is considered the largest manor house complex in the region outside the royal palaces of Potsdam. The Kleiner Boitzenburger route offers another perspective on cultural history: it leads to the von Arnim family mausoleum and the Temple of Apollo, and offers a line of sight to the castle.
Public and private guided tours are offered at the castle. As the program may change, check the current dates before your visit. This allows you to include a guided tour in your plans and combine it with a look at the park and route.
The Marstall Boitzenburg offers a different focus. It includes a demonstration bakery, a coffee roastery, an ice cream workshop, and a brewery with a restaurant. Production and dining complement the themes of architecture and landscape. If you would like to include these offerings in your plans, check in advance what is currently available, as the program may change.
By Bike or on the Water
The Trail of Stones is a 51-kilometer cycling route from Templin via Boitzenburg and Fürstenwerder to Warbende in the Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park. It runs mostly along separate, paved, car-free cycle paths and quiet country roads, and is signposted throughout. The distance and route refer to the entire trail. Check both before setting out, as route conditions may change.
Near Boitzenburg Castle, Küchenteich and the adjacent Boitzenburger waters are considered suitable for canoe trips. This offers a different focus from a cycling tour: you can weigh up whether you would rather combine your trip with a signposted route or a possible excursion on the water. Rental and access options may change; check in advance.
The Uckermark as a Regional Setting
Beyond Boitzenburger Land, the Uckermark offers a broader setting for nature and active holidays. The Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park lies amid the water-rich, gently rolling Uckermark landscape. Its features include clear-water lakes, kettle holes, and bogs. The nature park has more than 150 kilometers of water trails and over 600 kilometers of signposted hiking trails—useful points of reference for anyone considering longer hikes or water-based excursions in the Uckermark as part of their trip.
The Märkischer Landweg also passes through the Uckermark: it is 217 kilometers long, divided into ten stages, and crosses three National Natural Landscapes. These details give a regional sense of scale for multi-day hiking plans. You can take them into account when deciding whether to focus your trip on individual destinations or plan a multi-stage hike in the Uckermark.
For those interested in culture, the Gramzow Railway Museum in the Uckermark features historic railway vehicles from different eras, as well as exhibitions on track construction, workshop operations, and railway operations and transport services. Technical installations can be viewed outdoors and inside buildings. On operating days, the museum railway offers rides on historic railway vehicles and the chance to drive a rail velocipede yourself.
Another regional occasion is the Rafting Festival in Lychen. It takes place every year on the Oberpfuhl Promenade; both days feature entertainment and hands-on activities for children and adults. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the dates for the current edition.
