Discover Neu-Anspach
Accommodation in Neu-Anspach
Neu-Anspach combines Hessian village history with routes through forests and fields and opportunities for shared discoveries. The Hessenpark brings the history of Hessian village life to life in more than one hundred buildings from past centuries. There are also routes of varying lengths and an outdoor swimming pool at the edge of the woods. When planning your stay, you can decide whether culture, activity, or relaxation should be the focus.
Experience village history at the Hessenpark
At the Hessenpark open-air museum, a family route shows children and adults together how people used to live and work. This makes a visit a journey of discovery through different aspects of everyday life in times past. There are rustic inns serving regional delicacies in the market square and in the North Hesse building group. Individual establishments may change, so check what is currently available before your visit if you would like to stop for a meal.
Routes for different kinds of outings
The Wild Boar Route starts at the community center in Hausen-Arnsbach, a district of Neu-Anspach. It is about 3 km long and suitable for strollers. Along the way, it passes through woods, fields, and open countryside; information boards and hands-on stations make it a shared discovery tour for children and adults. Its manageable length and interactive stations offer a different kind of outing from a long hiking route.
The Elisabeth Trail is on a very different scale: this challenging pilgrimage and hiking route is 53.87 km long and passes through Neu-Anspach. When comparing tours, you can choose between an approximately 3 km stroller-friendly route and a long-distance trail explicitly classified as challenging. For cyclists, the Usa or Usatal Cycle Route runs from Schmitten-Brombach via Usingen and Neu-Anspach toward the Wetterau region.
Relaxation at the edge of the woods and practical information
The outdoor swimming pool is located at the edge of the woods, surrounded by nature, and offers a place to relax away from the noise of everyday life. The facilities include a separate pool for toddlers. As facilities can change, check the latest information before your visit.
Neu-Anspach is centrally located in the Hintertaunus and is described as an ideal starting and finishing point for hiking and cycling tours; good transport connections are also part of this appeal. Bus route 63 connects Wehrheim or Neu-Anspach/Anspach station with the Neu-Anspach/Anspach Hessenpark stop. Check the timetable before setting off.
There are six charging stations for e-bikes directly at the Hessenpark open-air museum. At a bicycle service station, visitors can carry out minor repairs and maintenance themselves. These are useful points of reference if you would like to combine a museum visit with a cycling route.
More routes and culture in the Hochtaunus
In the wider Hochtaunus travel region, the Limes Experience Trail offers a longer route option: it follows the course of the Limes hiking trail or the Limes cycle path and runs for more than 30 km from Glashütten to Ober-Mörlen. Check trail conditions before setting off. A shorter option is the Windeck Healthy Climate Hiking Trail (WE2) in Königstein im Taunus: this easy circular route is 3.33 km long and starts and finishes at the Windeck car park. It runs mostly sheltered from wind and sun around the Großer Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Taunus. The different route lengths and difficulty ratings help you plan your day around the type of tour you prefer.
The Hochtaunus cultural attractions also offer their own highlights. Kronberg Castle stands on a rocky spur on the southern slope of the Taunus and was probably built in the 12th century as an imperial castle on Staufer crown lands. Since 2008, the Kronberg Castle Museum in the north wing of the Middle Castle has featured a permanent exhibition on the castle’s history; the museum and interior rooms can only be visited as part of a guided tour. At Saalburg Roman Fort, the “extra muros” tour leads through the camp village and the outer area, including the fort bath, guesthouse, ramparts, and Limes.
