River landscapes, local history, and cycling shape the travel ideas in Müden (Aller). The Oker, which flows from the Harz Mountains, joins the Aller here; several cycling routes pass through the town or end there. The local history museum and St. Petri Church complement these nature and outdoor activities with cultural history. This lets you choose different focuses for your stay.

River Views and Walks

From Gloystein Bridge, you have a good view of the Aller, the Oker, and the Oker weir. From this vantage point, you can see both rivers and the weir together. Müden (Aller) also offers a scenic landscape and plenty of opportunities for walks. You can complement the view from the bridge with time spent on foot, without being committed to a particular walking route.

Cycling and horse riding are also good options in Müden (Aller), and opportunities for both are continuing to expand. If you enjoy active pursuits, you can consider these activities alongside walks as further aspects of your travel plans.

Cycling Routes with Different Perspectives

The 126-kilometer Oker Cycle Route ends at the local history museum in Müden (Aller). It follows the course of the Oker to its confluence with the Aller near Müden. This route therefore connects both the river's course and the museum as its endpoint.

The Aller Cycle Route follows a different sequence of stops: Coming from Celle, it passes through Müden (Aller), Gifhorn, and Tankumsee Lake toward Wolfsburg. The section described is around 30 kilometers long. The approximately 38-kilometer “Naturschätze” (“Natural Treasures”) tour passes through Gifhorn, Wilsche, Müden (Aller), Meinersen, Dalldorf, Leiferde, and Winkel, among other places, on its way back to Gifhorn. In Müden, it crosses the Aller and continues along the Oker. The routes can therefore be distinguished by their respective reference points: the Oker Cycle Route ends at the museum, the Aller Cycle Route continues through several towns toward Wolfsburg, and “Naturschätze” combines a circular tour with the river course in Müden.

Local History at the Museum

The historic town center and St. Petri Church are part of Müden (Aller)'s cultural character. At the local history museum, you can see objects from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Areas open to visitors include a lovingly furnished farmhouse room and workshops belonging to coopers, mechanical engineers, shoemakers, tailors, and hairdressers. The various workshops showcase several trades, while the farmhouse room offers a distinct glimpse of rural home life.

The local history museum also includes a “Tante-Emma-Laden” (traditional corner shop), which may evoke childhood memories for some visitors. Together with the farmhouse room and workshops, it offers a different way to explore local history than the dated objects: here, familiar everyday places and trades take center stage. If you would like to visit the museum, check the current visiting arrangements in advance.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests
