Oyten offers many different ways to explore: the Wümme Cycle Route passes through the Wümme lowlands, a loop around Oyter Lake is ideal for jogging, and tours arranged in advance offer insights into other landscape and cultural themes. Cycling with flexibility

The Wümme Cycle Route passes through Oyten and runs for around 60 kilometres through the Wümme lowlands. A tour can begin or end at any point along the route, giving you flexibility in choosing your own section. Guided cycle tours into the Wümme meadows are also offered from Oyten. Bicycle hire can be arranged for these tours by prior agreement. A Sunday hike or cycle tour takes place in Oyten every month. A lakeside loop and guided routes

The loop around Oyter Lake is approximately three kilometres long and is suitable for jogging. Another way to explore the surrounding area is to book a guided tour in advance: options may include a walk from the town hall to the Protestant church or a route through the Königsmoor with a loop around Brillensee. Unlike a self-planned walk, these guided tours require advance arrangements.

Village culture and market life

Oyten’s local heritage association preserves traditional customs and collects historical objects so that they can be passed on to future generations. The village museum is open in the afternoon on the first Sunday of every month. Check the opening hours again before your visit. St. Petri Church also regularly opens its doors to visitors: you can look around the church, spend some time in a peaceful atmosphere and light a candle.

Oyten’s weekly market is centrally located in front of the Heimathaus and in Rathauspark. It offers a wide range of products, and visitors can take a break over coffee between shopping. The area is distinguished by its unique character and beauty. Designated hiking trails are available, and an additional dune discovery trail is planned.
