Lambrechtshagen is a destination for travellers who want to discover village history through tangible details: the village church dates back to the 13th century, and the local history room focuses on the history of the village and its districts. Architectural history, historic objects and outdoor activities give your stay a variety of themes.

Village Church and Church Ensemble

Lambrechtshagen, the oldest place in the municipality, was first mentioned in a document on 8 July 1233. The “church in the village” dates back to the 13th century. The listed ensemble includes the church and the rectory; it also features a park with old fruit trees.

The church has been carefully renovated since the late 1980s. The official church description rates its present condition as good. Its architectural history can also be read in specific features: the Gothic rib vault in the nave points to a renovation around 1400. The gallery was built in 1750 and painted with biblical scenes in 1759.

The furnishings include a silver-gilt chalice made by Rostock goldsmith Hans Klein in 1611. Concerts and church music events are held in the church at irregular intervals. A former stable building in the church ensemble has been converted into a community centre. Here, you can encounter several layers of history—from the medieval building to later furnishings and alterations.

History to See and Explore

The local history room in the Lambrechtshagen community centre makes collected historical pictures, accounts and documents accessible to visitors. An exhibition on the history of the village and its districts opened in January 2026. A report from January 2026 also mentions the flag of an association founded in 1902 to support bereaved families in the municipality, displayed behind protective glass.

A harmonium made by the Estey Organ Company is another historic object from Lambrechtshagen. It was manufactured in the United States and completed on 6 December 1899. Individual objects like this add specific names and dates to the local history, while the local history room makes pictures, accounts and documents about the village and its districts accessible.

Exploring Lambrechtshagen and Vorweden-Mönkweden

The roughly 400-metre-long Schwarzer Weg in Lambrechtshagen is traffic-calmed because access by vehicle is restricted. From here, views extend across meadows and fields towards Doberan. According to local tradition, the path was surfaced at the end of the 19th century with black slag from a Rostock roofing-felt factory, which gave it its name.

Large areas in Vorweden-Mönkweden are protected. The Mönkweder Wald is a popular place for hiking and cycling. These activities offer different experiences: the Schwarzer Weg combines a short route with scenic views, while hiking and cycling are the main attractions in the Mönkweder Wald.

Cultural offerings are also part of the local scene. The To Hus association offers readings, concerts, creative workshops and activities focused on regional history. The church, in turn, hosts concerts and church music events at irregular intervals. If you want to combine culture and outdoor activities, you can take these different interests into account when planning your stay, without turning them into a fixed itinerary.

In the Wider Rostock Destination

The wider Rostock destination offers additional landscapes and cultural experiences. Sternberger Seenland Nature Park, with its deeply incised breakthrough valleys along the Warnow, numerous lakes, picturesque hills and extensive forests, is particularly suited to hiking and cycling. The historic Molli narrow-gauge railway runs between Kühlungsborn and Bad Doberan and is the oldest narrow-gauge railway on the Baltic coast. These regional experiences complement Lambrechtshagen’s own themes without conflating them with the village itself.

Tailor Your Stay

When searching for accommodation, it helps to decide first what you want to focus on during your stay: would you like to explore the village church and local history, or are hiking and cycling in the Mönkweder Wald more important? If you include the wider Rostock destination, you’ll find additional nature and cultural experiences. Compare accommodation options based on these interests; that way, your search starts with the kind of trip you want rather than a general idea of what accommodation should offer.
