Discover Rövershagen: Windmill, Village Church and Ice World

Windmill and village church: historic landmarks in Rövershagen
The Rövershagen Dutch windmill was built in 1881 as a ground-sailed Dutch windmill. Its cap is operational and can be turned; the windshaft, milling equipment and bucket elevator have been preserved. The mill’s technical features, as well as its year of construction, are part of what makes it special. It is a popular photo spot and one of the last well-preserved mills of this type in the region. The church in Rövershagen is a Late Gothic brick building and one of the oldest village churches in Mecklenburg. The mill and church thus offer different cultural and historical perspectives: the construction and technology of the ground-sailed Dutch windmill on the one hand, and Late Gothic brick architecture on the other. If you are interested in architectural history as well as leisure activities, both are among the special highlights of a stay in Rövershagen.
Karls Erlebnis-Dorf: Ice World, narrow-gauge railway and crafts
Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen offers visitors more than 50 experiences. These include the annual Ice World, where ice figure displays are created from more than 300 tonnes of frozen water across 2,000 square metres. Seasonal details of the presentation may vary. At the Manufactories Market, products such as jams, sweets and chocolate are made by hand; visitors can also enjoy fresh coffee there. Alongside the extensive Ice World, the adventure village therefore offers traditional crafts and food products. The Rostock region has other kinds of experiences to offer, too: at Wildpark-MV, visitors can explore the park on their own or join guided wolf, owl and evening walks. Schwaan Climbing and Adventure Forest offers seven courses for children, beginners and advanced climbers.
The narrow-gauge railway offers another way to explore the grounds. From 10 a.m., it takes all visitors on trips around the jumping paradise and past the Alles Paletti Hotel. In the morning, it takes hotel guests to breakfast. If you plan to ride the railway, check the latest operating information in advance.
