Silz on Lake Fleesensee combines lakeside areas and swimming spots with extensive forests and cultural sites in the district of Nossentin. A network of cycling and hiking trails leads through the landscape around Silz; activities on and by the water take centre stage at the lake. When choosing where to stay, you can decide whether you mainly want to explore the trails and forest, Lake Fleesensee or the history of Nossentin.

Water, Forest and Trails

The landscape around Silz in Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide Nature Park includes extensive woodland. A network of cycling and hiking trails runs through the protected landscape in the nature park near Silz. If you enjoy walking or cycling, you can explore this protected landscape; Lake Fleesensee offers a different focus for the day.

The 11 km² Lake Fleesensee offers opportunities for fishing, sailing and swimming at Heidepark Silz. The municipality of Silz also has sunbathing lawns and swimming spots directly by the lake. This means a stay can focus either on spending time by the shore or on various activities on the water. If you are planning your trip especially around being by the water, Heidepark Silz campsite is another local point of reference: it is situated directly on Lake Fleesensee in a peaceful, idyllic setting between forest and lake.

The campsite harbour has 158 moorings for boats up to a maximum of 7 m in length and is also open to canoeists and other waterway travellers. If you are planning to bring a boat, check the availability of moorings and the conditions in advance.

Nossentin: Half-timbered Church and Local History

The village church in Nossentin, a district of the municipality of Silz, was built in the half-timbered style in 1830 and is a protected cultural monument. In addition to serving as a place of worship, it is also used as an art and cinema church. Film evenings are held there regularly during the summer months. This brings together historic architecture and a cultural programme in one place. If you would like to attend a film evening, check the specific dates and programme before your trip.

The Yorck-Blücher monument focuses on another aspect of history. Dating from 1856, it stands outside the village on the country road at the exit from Nossentin in the direction of Waren and is surrounded by information boards. It commemorates the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation and fierce fighting near Nossentin between Yorck’s riflemen and Napoleon’s troops. The information boards add context to the monument’s historical significance.

If you would rather explore the area on a walk, Nossentin also has the manor park around the former manor house. It invites visitors to linger and take walks, offering a different way to experience local history than the church and monument.

An Event in June

Silz holds its sports village festival every June. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the event dates and programme in advance, as both may change.
