Beach, Promenade and Swimming Season

Trassenheide combines a long Baltic Sea beach with nature trails and unusual attractions. The almost four-kilometre-long beach of fine sand offers opportunities for play and sports; its extensive shallow-water area makes swimming particularly enjoyable for families with children. The beach promenade offers a different experience, with a sculpture park, a play area featuring an adventure playground, and a quiet zone. Here, activity, art and tranquillity sit side by side.

From May to September, lifeguards from the German Life Saving Association provide safety at Trassenheide’s main beach and at the beach section by the “Ostseeblick” campsite.

Explore on Foot, by Bike and Across the Island

Trassenheide is centrally connected to Usedom Island’s network of cycling and hiking trails, making it a good starting point for day trips across the island. The surrounding countryside, with its coastal forest and meadows towards the Peenestrom, is best explored on foot or by bike. Bicycles and e-bikes can be hired right in town.

For a tour lasting around two to three hours, try “Fiete’s Adventure Route through Trassenheide”: this nature tour is GPS-guided, and the brochure created for it is available from the tourist information office or online. The designated Baltic Coast Nature Trail in Trassenheide is on a different scale. It stretches for about 60 kilometres, with 75 information boards in German, English and Polish. You can choose between a tour with a stated duration and an extensive nature trail.

Experiences Among Sand Art and Nature

The “World of Sand” sand sculpture exhibition is located at Wiesenweg 1 in Trassenheide. For nature observation all year round, visit “Europe’s Largest Butterfly Farm”: its 2,600-square-metre free-flight hall is home to 1,500 to 2,000 butterflies from tropical regions. Visitors can follow their life cycle throughout the year, from egg to caterpillar and chrysalis to butterfly.

“The World Upside Down,” a tourist attraction in the Baltic Sea resort of Trassenheide since 2008, offers an unusual perspective on a home. The attraction lets you view an environment turned upside down. Outdoor learning and adventure trails with changing themes round out the visit.

Play, Water Sports and Guided Tours

Usedom Park “Kinderland” is a 10,000-square-metre complex with numerous attractions. These include a carousel, a train, a bouncy castle and a trampoline, as well as climbing a lighthouse and taking a Western-style ride. “Pirateninsel Usedom” is another play and adventure park in Trassenheide, covering 13,000 square metres.

At the sports beach, the Island Surf Usedom team offers seasonal lessons, including introductory and multi-day courses in windsurfing, surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, as well as practice with course changes and various manoeuvres. If you’d like to explore the island with a guide, contact Usedom Reiseleitung in Trassenheide. It offers guided tours by bike, on foot or as a coach companion; these can also include the surrounding mainland.

When choosing your accommodation in Trassenheide, you can decide what to focus on during your stay: beach days, nature trails or individual attractions.
