Queidersbach brings together local history, a revived open-air stage and marked trails through the countryside. Culture and outdoor activities can be considered different focuses for a trip. The museum’s collection spans a broad period of time; outdoors, the network of hiking trails, the Walkmühltal valley and a long-distance cycle route offer various starting points. When choosing accommodation, it helps to consider whether you mainly want to explore Queidersbach itself or include other places in the wider Kaiserslautern travel destination.

Sickingerhöhe Museum: Local History Across the Ages

The Sickingerhöhe Museum in Queidersbach opened in 1976 to mark Queidersbach’s 1,000th anniversary and is housed in a former school building dating from 1836. Today, it presents a collection of almost 6,000 objects across around 600 m² of exhibition space. Its timespan stretches from prehistory to the recent past. In this way, the museum combines the history of a specific building with a collection spanning different periods.

Hiking and the Landscape around Gelterswoog

Queidersbach has a network of more than 100 kilometres of marked hiking trails. The trail network covers more than 100 kilometres in total; the length of your day’s hike depends on the route you choose. The romantically rugged Walkmühltal valley leads from Queidersbach to Gelterswoog. Gelterswoog is one of the largest bathing lakes in the Palatinate. If you want to consider the waterside landscape as well as hiking when planning your trip, this connection is a useful guide.

The Palatinate Forest Tour near Queidersbach

The Palatinate Forest Tour is a 60.4-kilometre cycle route through Kaiserslautern, Queidersbach, Waldfischbach-Burgalben, Rodalben, Merzalben and Hinterweidenthal. In Queidersbach, it follows a cycle path on the outskirts, away from the main roads, through the idyllic valley of the Queidersbach stream to Linden. The section through the village is therefore part of a longer route. Parking for the Palatinate Forest Tour is available particularly at railway stops, at Gelterswoog, and in Queidersbach or Linden.

An Open-Air Stage with a Long Tradition

The former Am Falkenstein open-air stage was established in 1928. Since 2018, the Am Falkenstein nature stage has brought the open-air stage back to life, continuing a tradition of more than 90 years. The history of the stage thus complements the museum’s cultural focus with another local tradition.
