Linkenbach between the village fair and the pond
Accommodation in Linkenbach
Linkenbach combines a longstanding village tradition with a park-like central area and clearly identified routes. The tent fair by the pond, opportunities for play and relaxation at the pond complex, and cycling and hiking trails each offer a different perspective. You can get to know the town through its festival, central area or a route.
A tent fair rooted in village tradition
The Linkenbach Fair Association was founded in 1950. The fair is held in a tent; since the mid-1980s, the festival grounds by the pond in the centre of the village have been used for it. The traditional programme includes several events: the fair begins on Saturday with a dance evening and the introduction of the fair couple. On Monday, a parade through Linkenbach follows the morning reception. The fair couple also has a long history: from 1951 to 2023, a couple took part in the festival every year. In this way, the fair combines a recurring programme with a tradition spanning many decades.
The WAKE UP Festival took place on 22 and 23 August 2025 at the leisure grounds in Linkenbach. This dated festival event is another local event to note alongside the fair.
The pond and town centre
The park-like town centre includes a pond, a barbecue area, a boules court and a children’s playground. The pond complex also has numerous play stations and modern reclining benches; a 2018 report describes these amenities. The central area brings together different ways to spend time: by the pond, playing, playing boules and barbecuing. This is a different focus from the fair’s time-specific programme.
Nature park and routes
The part of Linkenbach’s municipal area west of State Road 265 lies within the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park. The routes have different points of reference: cycle route D1 connects the districts of Daufenbach, Muscheid and Werlenbach, as well as the neighbouring municipality of Linkenbach. Burgweg 3 climbs gently to Linkenbach. D1 links several named places, while the description of Burgweg focuses on the gentle climb to Linkenbach. These details give cyclists and hikers different options for planning their trip.
