Discover Bad Lausick: spa park, culture and water experiences
Accommodation in Bad Lausick
Bad Lausick combines the history of a spa and bathing resort with a large spa park, a museum and activities for active days. The park was laid out in the English style around 1880; at the RIFF leisure pool, water experiences and wellness take centre stage. There are also local walking routes, moderate cycling tours and historical themes to explore.
Spa Park and Kneipp Park
Bad Lausick Spa Park covers 24 hectares. Its features include the rose garden and Kneipp Park by Schwanenteich pond. There you will find a Kneipp foot-treading pool, a fitness trail and a fountain. The park therefore brings together gardening and Kneipp facilities as distinct features. The rose garden changes with the seasons; the facilities in Kneipp Park may change. Check the latest information before your visit.
Walking and cycling tours
Easy local walks include the 1.3-kilometre Kleine Kurparkring and the 3.2-kilometre Altstadtrundgang. The Kleine Kurparkring is the shorter of the two routes. Moderate cycling tours from Bad Lausick to Colditz and to Nimbschen Monastery are also available. You can choose between shorter local routes, a longer circuit and moderate cycling tours.
The Tourist Information Office in Bad Lausick has walking, cycling and themed maps. There is also an e-bike charging station with bicycle racks beside it. The train journey from Leipzig or Chemnitz to Bad Lausick station takes about 35 minutes; from there, it is approximately an eight-minute walk to the Tourist Information Office. This makes it easy to plan your journey, get maps and organise a cycling or walking tour together.
Water and relaxation at RIFF
The RIFF leisure pool offers a variety of water attractions: the Crazy River tube slide is 125 metres long; there is also a large slide and diving platforms at heights of three and five metres. A water playground is designed for young children. The wellness area includes several saunas, a whirlpool, a relaxation house and massages. Slides, water play and wellness are therefore distinct features. Facilities and wellness offerings may change over time; check the latest information before your visit.
Spa history, museum and mills
The spa and town museum presents Bad Lausick’s eventful history in seven exhibition rooms, with a particular focus on its development into a spa and bathing resort. The discovery of the healing waters prompted its development as a spa town; from 1820, bathhouses, pavilions and two spa houses were built. Regular special exhibitions explore regional or historically significant themes. The museum thus connects the history of the spa town with changing themes from the region and the past.
Two post mills also offer a glimpse into the past. Ballendorf Post Mill has a complete, operational set of milling equipment and can be opened to visitors by prior arrangement. Ebersbach Post Mill was built in 1859 and can also be visited by prior arrangement.
The Bad Lausick milk station is a small direct-sales outlet for fresh milk, adding a local food dimension to the cultural and outdoor activities.
When choosing your accommodation, you can focus on what matters most to you: the spa park and museum offer gardens and history, the tours offer outdoor activity, and RIFF offers water and wellness. Think about which of these interests you most during your stay and how you would like to spend your days.
