Treuen brings together different themes for a stay: town history, events in the castle cellar, and natural spots with trails and places to rest. This lets you combine cultural discoveries with time outdoors. The interests you want to focus on also make a good starting point when looking for accommodation in Treuen.

Town history in different places

The tower of the town church is Treuen’s oldest surviving building. The town hall also preserves a historical detail: its original council chamber from 1915 is still intact. Those interested in the history of the area can also visit a small exhibition on local history and life in the Vogtland at the Pfaffengrün Local History Museum. Check visiting information before going to the museum.

Another piece of history lies beneath Treuen Castle: the vaulted rooms of the castle cellar were built in 1512/1513. Concerts, talks, and readings have been held there since 2006. The old vaulted cellars and the varied program of events give the place its own cultural character. If you would like to combine your trip with an event, check the current schedule in advance.

Trails, moorland, and nature watching

The Glöckleteiche ponds are a natural monument covering around 3.5 hectares southwest of Treuen. Walking trails and a rustic rest area are part of this natural setting, as is the chance—if you are lucky—to spot the rare kingfisher. A sighting is not guaranteed.

The Treuen Local History and Hiking Trail runs around the town and gives hikers insights into its history and nature. The route includes the Altmannsgrüner Moor, with its characteristic moorland vegetation. The trail thus connects nature with local history rather than focusing on a single attraction.

Experiences for different amounts of time

The Perlaser Tower has a large forest playground and an e-bike charging station. The observation platform is reached by climbing 100 steps inside the tower. The precise number of steps gives you a practical point of reference when planning this visit into your day. The surroundings combine a visit to the tower with a place to play and a charging option for e-bikes.

Guided sessions lasting two to three hours are offered at the Eich Forest Experience Garden. Topics include forestry, the environment, and hunting, as well as how to identify trees, plants, and wildlife. Advance registration is required for visits. Allow a suitable block of time and arrange your visit in advance.

Treuen and the Vogtland

Beyond the local attractions, the Vogtland offers a broader setting for planning your trip. Forests and green hills offer opportunities for hiking, cycling, and mountain biking. Musical instrument making is also part of the region’s identity: the Vogtland is associated, among other things, with violins, tubas, and trombones. Musical instruments have been made in the Upper Vogtland for more than 350 years. These themes complement Treuen’s local history with a distinct regional perspective.

Choose accommodation to suit your travel interests

Town history and a possible event date offer a different focus from walking trails, moorland vegetation, or a guided session at the Forest Experience Garden. If a particular date or a pre-booked guided tour is important to your plans, confirm these details before your trip. This helps you choose suitable accommodation based on the activities you actually plan to do.
