Tetenbüll combines a largely protected historic village center with cultural attractions and nature experiences at Everschopsiel/Tetenbüllspieker Harbor. If you would like to include village history, cycling, and time by the water in your stay, you can take these different sides of the village into account when choosing accommodation.

Historic Village Center and Haus Peters

The largely protected historic village center includes the cobbled streets of Bradenstraat, Dörpstraat, and Karkenstraat, thatched houses, Haubargs, Haus Peters, and St. Anna’s Church. In the village center, Haus Peters stands opposite the church; an open-air museum for vintage cars is nearby. The village center thus brings together historic buildings and various places of interest for culture enthusiasts.

Haus Peters was built around 1760 and served as a residential wing of a Haubarg from about 1850 to 1955. It documents rural life in the 18th and 19th centuries. The historic Hökerei, dating from 1820, is considered likely to be Schleswig-Holstein’s oldest rural Hökerei still preserved at its original location. Haus Peters serves as a museum, gallery, and shop; its collections explore the historic village shop and trade in goods in earlier times. The gable room houses a Horst Janssen room with exhibits from the Eiderland portfolio and the Janssenhof. Those interested in rural history or art will find a range of subjects in one place. Check current visiting arrangements before your visit.

The garden at Haus Peters features historic roses and provides space for outdoor events and arts and crafts markets. If you would like an event to be a highlight of your visit, check the current program in advance.

St. Anna’s Church and Village Life

St. Anna’s Church stands on a medieval dwelling mound and is dedicated to Saint Anne. The Late Gothic brick building was probably begun at the start of the 15th century; the church was expanded and its tower built in 1491. Mature trees and old gravestones from the former churchyard stand on the church mound. The village playground is opposite the church, next to the volunteer fire brigade. The church, historic gravestones, and playground offer very different places to visit in the village center, without the need for extensive trip planning.

Cycling Routes, Nature, and Harbor

At Everschopsiel/Tetenbüllspieker Harbor, a nature trail leads around the water retention basin on the inland side of the dike. The area offers opportunities for birdwatching and photo opportunities at sunrise and sunset. The North Sea Cycle Route passes through the municipality of Tetenbüll; there are also signposted routes for short rides and full-day tours. Check the route before setting out. The main difference between these options is whether you are planning a short bike ride or a longer day on the bike.

There is a swimming area at the harbor with a bathing ladder, shower, and benches. The harbor also offers berths for visiting sailors. If you plan to swim or arrive by boat, check current conditions or berth availability in advance.
