Krems II lies at the northern end of Lake Warder. The municipality offers riding stables, a bathing area by the lake, and cycling and hiking trails; there is also access to the Trave for paddlers in WarderbrĂĽck. This gives you different ways to spend your trip: time by the water, activities on land and excursions on the water. If your travel group has different interests, there are several themes to weigh up when planning.

Water, cycling and hiking trails in Krems II

A regional circular route of about 30 kilometres runs from Bad Segeberg through the foothills of Holstein Switzerland and through Krems II. From there, a cycle path heads towards WarderbrĂĽck. A regional cycle route connects the Krems II area with the crossing of the Trave at WarderbrĂĽck, where there is a canoe launch site. It continues towards Warder and its bathing area by the lake. Before setting out on a specific tour, check the route, trail conditions and facilities on site.

Lake Warder gives the village a strong connection to its landscape. There are also activities for different kinds of exercise: cycling and hiking, horse riding, and paddling on the Trave near WarderbrĂĽck. The bathing area by the lake adds to the choice. When planning your trip, consider whether you would rather spend your time on the trails, by the water, or a mix of both.

Segeberg: nature and culture as further highlights

The wider Segeberg destination offers additional landscape and cultural experiences. The district brings together dense forests, clear lakes, hedgerows and meadows. Segeberg Forest covers 40 square kilometres; in the northeast, the hilly landscape of Holstein Switzerland Nature Park extends into the district. There are also various hiking options across the district, from longer tours to short walks. Guided hikes and nature tours offer insights into local wildlife and plant life. Independent trails and guided nature experiences are thus available as different ways to plan your trip.

In Bad Segeberg, the Alt-Segeberger Bürgerhaus Museum explores the building and the history of its residents from 1541, as well as Segeberg’s 800-year development. St Mary’s Church was built from fired clay bricks in 1156. It was the first brick church of its kind north of the Elbe and the first basilica with a vaulted ceiling. Both examples offer distinct highlights alongside the landscape experiences and show different aspects of the region’s history.

The Karl May Festival is also part of the summer cultural programme in the wider Segeberg destination. It takes place every summer at the open-air theatre at the foot of Bad Segeberg’s Kalkberg hill; the theatre can accommodate up to 7,700 spectators per performance. If the festival coincides with your travel dates, check the schedule in advance. This helps distinguish a recurring summer event from the landscape and trail options described as available year-round.

Choose accommodation to suit your travel plans

Before you search, decide which experiences you want to shape your stay: Lake Warder and the bathing area, cycling and hiking trails, riding stables, or the paddler access point at WarderbrĂĽck. If you also want to include nature and cultural attractions in the wider Segeberg destination, factor them into your trip planning.
