Accommodation in Tessin B. Boizenburg
Tessin B. Boizenburg offers an opportunity to explore its historic village layout, transport routes and natural features. The municipality is in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is administered by the Boizenburg-Land municipal association. Tessin includes the districts of Eulenberg and Kuhlenfeld; it also has listed buildings.
Village history and historic routes
Tessin was first documented in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register. Alt-Kuhlenfeld was settled in 1700. The historic village layout is also distinctive: Tessin is described as a curved row settlement resembling a cul-de-sac village. There are no farmsteads on the northwest side. This layout offers a concrete way to get to know the village not only through its name, but also through its development over time.
The history of the transport routes shows further changes to the surrounding farmland. In 1827, the Hamburg–Berlin highway was built, dividing Tessin's farmland. The Hamburg–Berlin railway followed in 1847; it ran through the southern part of the farmland. A historic church path also led from Tessin through the Wiebendorf Forest to Zahrensdorf. Settlement patterns and older connections can therefore be viewed as distinct aspects of the village's history.
Moorland, bird protection and activities
The Tessin Moor is a natural feature in its own right: the renaturation project was completed in 2007. A WEMAG transformer building in the municipality was also converted into a bird protection tower. It serves to protect birds and has nesting aids for owls and bats. The tower is included as a stop on Nature Watch hiking routes. Moorland renaturation and bird protection thus offer different ways to engage with nature and the landscape.
There are horse farms in both Tessin and Kuhlenfeld. If individual farms offer public activities, check with them directly before visiting. This will help you plan your visit.

Culture in the wider destination of Ludwigslust-Parchim
In the wider destination of Ludwigslust-Parchim, Ludwigslust Palace offers a distinct perspective on the region's architectural and cultural history. The palace was the former residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg and, together with its park and town, forms an ensemble known as the “Little Versailles of the North.” The late Baroque town plan is almost entirely intact; its features include a former court church and an English-style landscape park. The palace presents art and courtly domestic culture from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The museum in Dömitz Fortress explores a different subject: it covers the history of the fortress and town, the history of the Elbe, harbour and bridges, Fritz Reuter, as well as temporary and art exhibitions. These cultural sites are part of the wider destination of Ludwigslust-Parchim and are regional additions, not features of Tessin itself. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between Tessin's own settlement and natural history and other explicitly regional cultural themes.
