Tramm is shaped by its landscape, rural architecture and network of paths. This gives you a choice when planning your trip: expansive views, hiking, cycling or regional history. Which of these aspects you want to define your stay can also guide your search for suitable accommodation.

The Lewitz landscape and the townscape

Tramm lies on the edge of the “Lewitz” large landscape and nature conservation area. From Molkerei-Berg, you can enjoy panoramic views across the Lewitz. Together, the location and views make the landscape a distinctive part of trip planning, while the well-preserved farmhouses reflect the town’s history: they bear witness to the hard work of the Lewitz farmers. The natural scenery and rural architecture thus offer two different ways to experience Tramm.

Large wooden geese, known as the “Trammer Gois”, stand at the entrance to Tramm. They, too, have a specific name and add a local detail to the landscape and architecture.

The BahlenhĂĽschen Forest Barn

BahlenhĂĽschen is a district of Tramm, and the BahlenhĂĽschen Forest Barn is located there. It was built around 1770 as a storage barn and rebuilt from 2000 to 2004, almost true to the original. Its history thus links its former role as a storage building with a later phase of reconstruction.

The forest barn has been equipped for information, documentation and educational purposes, particularly for school classes taking part in practical environmental education and learning. It can also be used for celebrations, lectures and exhibitions. When planning your day, it is worth distinguishing between these uses: the educational programme is aimed especially at school classes, while use for the listed events is possible.

Hiking, cycling and seasonal experiences

A forest path leads from Göhren via the Krähenberge hills directly to the forest barn. The Alte Riesen II themed hiking trail also starts there and passes through fields, forests and meadows. In autumn, you can hear the deer rutting along this trail. The cycling route takes a different course: it leads from Göhren via Bahlenhüschen and a section of the Waldlewitz forest to Tramm. The destinations are easy to distinguish: the cycling route leads to Tramm, the forest path to the barn, and Alte Riesen II starts there. Before setting off on your cycling trip, it is worth checking current trail conditions and markings.

At the Köhlerfest by the forest barn, charcoal is made from Lewitz beechwood every two years using traditional methods. If you plan to include the festival in your trip, check the specific event dates before travelling. There is a bathing area at Settiner See. As seasonal access may vary, check that it will be accessible when you plan to visit before going for a swim.

Choose the focus that suits your trip

When looking for accommodation in Tramm, you can first decide whether you want the Lewitz, walking or cycling routes, or local architectural and event history to shape your stay. Compare the location of a specific place with the interests that matter most to your plans.

For a broader overview of the wider Ludwigslust-Parchim travel destination, Ludwigslust Palace offers its own cultural and historical focus. It was the former residence of the dukes of Mecklenburg and, together with its park and town, forms an ensemble known as the “Little Versailles of the North”. The palace is also the centrepiece of an almost completely preserved late Baroque town layout, with a former court church and an English-style landscape park.
