Lüblow: Discover Harvest Traditions and Half-Timbered Architecture
Accommodation in Lüblow
Lüblow brings together village festival traditions, its own local history room, a towerless half-timbered church and a 53-kilometre themed route that passes through the village. This offers different ways to spend your time here: you can explore the collection and the church, plan your visit around the harvest festival, or see Lüblow as part of the Raseneisenstein Towns Tour. The train station, with hourly departures towards Schwerin or Ludwigslust, is another practical point of reference for planning your trip.
Discover the local history room
In 2026, more than 2,500 items are on display at the Lüblow local history room, and the collection may continue to grow. They include tools, kitchen utensils and furnishings, as well as numerous objects belonging to the “Wanderlust” Lüblow sports club. The collection thus ranges from practical everyday items to club memorabilia. A description from 2026 names 1 May, when the maypole is raised, and the September harvest festival as traditional opening occasions. Check the specific dates before your trip.
Half-timbered church and spring blossoms
Lüblow Church is a small, towerless half-timbered church on a rise. In spring, a profusely flowering lilac hedge frames the building, adding a seasonal touch. The details described inside the church are also specific: the bell was returned to its original position above the main entrance. On the Neo-Gothic altar is an oil painting entitled “Christ on the Cross with Mary and John.”
Festivals throughout the year
The annual harvest festival includes a sports festival, a traditional harvest dance and a procession featuring decorated tractors, trailers and bicycles. The festivities also include the traditional making of a harvest crown and the setting up of straw figures. The festival thus brings together sporting, dancing and visible harvest traditions. There are recurring events outside the harvest festival, too: the “Wir für Lüblow e.V.” association organises a carnival, a children’s festival and a Christmas market each year. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these events, check the local event dates in advance.
Lüblow on the Raseneisenstein Towns Tour
The 53-kilometre Raseneisenstein Towns Tour passes through Lüblow. There is an information board about the tour in the village, and the Büdnereien on Bäckerstraße are another route attraction. Lüblow therefore has two distinct points of interest: information about the tour and a named architectural landmark. The route offers another way to explore the village, alongside its festivals and collection.
Planning your trip
Trains leave Lüblow station hourly towards Schwerin or Ludwigslust. If train connections are part of your plans, check the timetable before travelling. The station and the two destinations served may also be useful when planning your trip.
Another perspective on Ludwigslust-Parchim
In the wider Ludwigslust-Parchim travel region, Ludwigslust Palace offers a different historical perspective. It was the former residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg and, together with its park and town, forms an ensemble known as the “Little Versailles of the North.” The palace is also the centrepiece of an almost completely preserved late-Baroque town layout, with a former court church and an English-style landscaped park. These regional attractions complement Lüblow’s own themes without suggesting that they are part of the village.
