Mühl Rosin: Inselsee, School History and Cycling Route
Accommodation in Mühl Rosin
Mühl Rosin brings together a range of travel interests: the bathing area on Lake Inselsee lies on its southeastern shore, while the town’s school history dates back to 1770. There is also a 5 km cycling route to Güstrow that runs along the lake. Water, local history and outdoor activity thus offer different focal points for planning your trip.
Lake Inselsee and the bathing area
The Mühl Rosin bathing area is in the Güstrow section of Lake Inselsee, on the southeastern shore. It is in a natural setting and has a small sunbathing lawn and a jetty. You can also take a round trip on the lake aboard an electrically powered motorboat for up to 20 people; alternatively, you can sail or row. This gives you a choice between spending time on the shore, taking a boat trip, or sailing or rowing. Check with the operator before your trip to confirm that the boat tour is available.
School history and village life
Children were already being taught in Mühl Rosin from 1770 onward. The first school building was constructed in 1859, and lessons for the village children were held there until 1950. On 1 September 1950, 159 pupils began classes in the newly opened Mühl Rosin central school, initially in three classrooms. It was the first newly built school in the former Schwerin district and is now a regional school. The transition from the first school building to the central school brings the development of local school history to life. Some rooms in the central school’s modern extension are now used, among other things, for the municipal library and municipal archive.
The farmstead held on hereditary lease, No. 3, also forms part of the town’s history and is known as “Honigberg.” Nothing remains visible today of the former residential and farm buildings; an information board tells visitors about the people who once lived there and their lives. Check the condition of the signage on site. The center of Mühl Rosin lies on the Mühlbach stream.
Cycling and choosing where to stay
A 5 km cycling route runs along Lake Inselsee from Mühl Rosin to Güstrow. Check the route using up-to-date cycling maps before setting out. The first section of the route between Bölkow and Mühl Rosin was completed in 2022. The completed sections provide a continuous cycling connection between three municipalities, with a link to the regional center of Güstrow; one section runs between Bölkow and Mühl Rosin.
When looking for accommodation in Mühl Rosin, you can first decide what you want to focus on during your stay: the bathing area and lake, school and village history, or a cycling trip to Güstrow. Then compare specific offers with your own requirements.
