Discover Reppelin
Accommodation in Reppelin
Reppelin is a specific stop for anyone planning around cycling routes and an annual village festival. This is particularly clear on the 36 km circular route from Sanitz: it runs through Wendfeld to Reppelin, continues to Wendorf and Neu-Wendorf, then passes through Reppelin again, followed by Stormsdorf, Zarnewanz, Tessin and Horst, before returning to Sanitz. Passing through Reppelin twice makes it a recurring point on the circuit. If you are planning a cycling trip, you can use the full route as a guide and factor the named places into your own plans.
Cycling routes and countryside
On the same circular route, the section from Reppelin heads towards Tessin. There, the route reaches the Recknitzwiesen nature reserve, a canoe rental near the Recknitz Bridge, and a viewpoint overlooking the Recknitz Valley. On the way back to Sanitz, it passes through the Teufelsmoor nature reserve.
The ParkLand North Loop also passes through Reppelin. There are no route markers on this tour, so bring a detailed map, a GPS device or a navigation app. Another cycling route, the MV06, runs from Reppelin through Dettmannsdorf to Bad SĂĽlze. Its description was updated in 2022; surface conditions and signage may change. The three routes therefore offer different starting points for planning: a 36 km loop starting in Sanitz, the unmarked ParkLand North Loop, and the described route of the MV06.
The meadow festival and a local point of interest
The Reppelin Meadow Festival takes place every year on the first weekend in July. If the festival is important to your stay, check the exact date for the year you plan to travel. This lets you plan your travel dates around it, rather than taking the weekend into account only after making the rest of your plans. Another specific local point of interest is the book box at the Reppelin village community centre. Together with the routes and the festival, it gives visitors several ways to connect with the village when planning their trip.
Sanitz: culture and other countryside destinations
In the wider Sanitz destination, the village church offers a distinctive focus on cultural history. Built in the 13th century, it is a massive fieldstone building with a half-timbered tower. Inside, it contains an altar with paintings by Rudolph Suhrlandt dating from around 1800. The architecture and altar offer different points of interest: the medieval church and paintings created around five centuries later.
The Alte Schmiede (Old Forge) in Sanitz is also a late Baroque oak half-timbered building, first mentioned in official documents in 1798. The courtyard is a listed heritage site; it cannot be visited directly because the building stands on private property. The Sanitz Local History Room is part of the Sanitz community centre and adds another cultural point of interest alongside the historic buildings.
In Groß Lüsewitz, the manor house of Schloss Groß Lüsewitz was built between 1896 and 1898 in the Neo-Renaissance style. A landscaped park adjoins the manor house and was extended after 1970 to include an equestrian competition ground. The Kleine Waldrunde (Little Forest Loop) offers another perspective on Sanitz: the walking trail leads north from the old village through a wooded area and along sandy clearings. To plan your journey, the municipality’s mobility page offers search options for train connections to and from Sanitz ZOB, as well as a general overview of bus departure times from Sanitz ZOB. The Sanitz farm shop offers a wide range of fresh regional produce; the selection may vary.
Choose the focus of your stay
If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the date for the year you plan to travel before setting your travel dates. This way, you can plan your search around the experiences you want to shape your stay.
