Reinshagen: Inn, farmstead ensemble and cycling tour
Accommodation in Reinshagen
Reinshagen can be explored through three specific themes: a long-established inn with guesthouse, a listed farmstead ensemble and the “Satower Land” cycling tour, which passes through the village. At the same time, the restaurant and historic farm buildings tell different stories about the place.
The Inn and Village History
The “Zur Deutschen Eiche” inn and guesthouse in Reinshagen is a popular place to stop in the region. With a restaurant and guesthouse, it offers meals and overnight accommodation. The restaurant has been an integral part of village life since 1926. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Reinshagen, this inn is an obvious starting point for planning the rest of your trip.
Farmstead Ensemble and Manor Houses
The farmstead architecture also offers a specific insight into Reinshagen. The Rostock district register of listed buildings dated 14 May 2024 includes the listed farm at DorfstraĂźe 15. The farmstead comprises a house, a barn, a livestock building and a pigsty.
The manor house on the first farmstead is thought to be a half-timbered building from the 18th century; this attribution is expressly tentative. The manor house on the second farmstead was also built in the 18th century.
Cycling Through Reinshagen
The “Satower Land” cycling tour runs from the direction of Satow to Reinshagen, then continues through Reinshagen along Dorfstraße towards Retschow. This makes Reinshagen part of a named cycling route, showing the village not only as a place to stay but also as a section of a tour. If you would like to include the route in your ride, check the route conditions in advance.
Water, Trails and History in Satow
The wider destination of Satow offers further options that are clearly distinct from what Reinshagen has to offer. Satow Lake is located in the village of Satow and covers 6.8 hectares. Paddle boats and stand-up paddleboards are permitted on the lake; check the local rules before taking part. A well-maintained bathing area with a beach is located on the north shore. If you are planning a visit, you can check the condition of the bathing area in advance.
The play and adventure trail runs around Satow Lake. It is suitable for walks, hikes and outings with the whole family, and has rest areas. Along the trail, various stations and information boards provide details about the region’s wildlife, plant life and history. This lets you combine exercise with themed discoveries, while the rest areas offer a chance to take a break along the way.
Satow also has its own historic highlights. The 13th-century monastery church ruin, regarded as a local landmark, is set in a park and defines the village centre. Around the church ruin, the old cemetery has a park-like character and provides a setting for a variety of cultural activities. Satow’s old church was built between 1219 and 1224 in a transitional style between Romanesque and Gothic, and is one of the oldest buildings in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Since 1945, Satow Church has been shared by Protestant and Catholic Christians.
