Immendingen offers a range of reasons to visit: you can explore the Danube Cycle Path in two directions, spend time by the river or experience Immendingen’s Fasnet carnival. Danube Riverside Park I brings together several ways to enjoy a stay by the Danube. The wider Tuttlingen destination offers additional landscape, hiking and cultural experiences.

Danube Riverside Park and the Danube Sinkhole

Danube Riverside Park I has a footbridge over the Danube and a water playground. Tiered seating leads down to the river; the park also includes a promenade and a circular path. This means the park offers several different ways to spend time there: the footbridge, tiered seating and circular path each provide their own setting for enjoying the river. The water playground is a specific attraction for families considering a visit to the park as part of their trip.

The Danube Sinkhole also shapes the region’s natural landscape. In the wider Tuttlingen destination, the appearance of the Danube between Immendingen, Möhringen, Tuttlingen and Fridingen can change from day to day: in some places the river carries a lot of water, while in others its bed is completely dry or contains very little water. If you are interested in this phenomenon, expect to see changing water levels.

Cycling in different ways

From Immendingen, you can cycle the Danube Cycle Path towards Sigmaringen or Donaueschingen. Since September 2025, mountain bike trails have also been available in the Talmannsberg area within the municipality of Immendingen. They complement options including the Danube Cycle Path and e-bike tours offered by Donaubergland Tourismus und Marketing GmbH. These different cycling options remain distinct rather than forming a single route: the Danube Cycle Path offers the directions mentioned above, while the trails on Talmannsberg are a separate option. Check current trail conditions before planning a mountain bike ride.

Fasnet as a reason to visit in its own right

Immendingen’s Fasnet carnival includes a large parade on Fasnet Sunntig (Shrove Sunday). If you want to experience the tradition locally, you can plan your trip around that date. Check the specific event date before booking. This makes the parade a focus in its own right, alongside activities by the Danube and cycling options.

In the wider Tuttlingen destination

Tuttlingen district covers 734.4 square kilometres. Its landscapes include the southwestern foothills of the Swabian Alb, parts of the Baar plateau and the valley of the Young Danube. The northern part of the district is home to juniper heaths and the 10-Tausender region, with ten mountains over 1,000 metres high. The Danube Gorge and the Höwenegg volcanic crater are also among the district’s scenic highlights; white limestone cliffs rise above the Danube Valley, too.

One specific hiking option in this wider area is the “Donauversinkung” premium trail, part of the DonauWellen network. It runs between Tuttlingen-Möhringen and Immendingen. If you include this route in your plans, check the conditions before setting out.

Cultural attractions are also part of the wider Tuttlingen destination. The Neuhausen ob Eck open-air museum features 25 historic buildings that were dismantled at their original locations, moved there and restored to their original condition. The upper floors of the Künstlerhaus Scharf Eck in Fridingen house a museum about Hans Bucher, a painter from the Danube Valley; three floors showcase his life and work. The Museum Oberes Donautal in Ifflinger Schloss presents changing special exhibitions as well as permanent exhibitions on the town’s history and former lordship, archaeology, Fasnet and more recent history.

If you are also planning hikes and cultural visits elsewhere in the district, take their specific locations into account. That way, you can choose your accommodation based on the activities that really matter to your trip.
