Oberreichenbach can be explored along a variety of trails and on different excursions: circular walks with named stops, cycling routes with different itineraries and, when there is sufficient snow, groomed cross-country ski trails. The Föhrbrunnen spring in Oberreichenbach Forest and a boules court in the lower village are also local highlights. To plan your stay, you can first decide what kind of activity you want to shape your day; the stated walking times, starting points and route details provide practical guidance.

Circular walks with different starting points

An approximately 2.5-hour circular walk leads from the Oberreichenbach sports ground via Kohlhütte, the Würzbach sports ground, Pflanzgartenhütte, the former Havelsburg, Föhrbrunnenhütte, Schmierofen and Kuchenbrückle back to the sports ground. At the Föhrbrunnen spring in Oberreichenbach Forest, there is a source, and a hut invites you to stop and relax. The route thus combines a clear time estimate with a series of named stops.

Another approximately 2.5-hour circular trail starts at Oberreichenbach Town Hall. It leads via Felsenmeer, Oberkollbach, Unterkollbach, Igelsloch and other stops before returning to Oberreichenbach. There is a shortcut for this route that reduces the walking time by about an hour. This lets you decide whether you prefer the longer route or the shorter option.

An approximately 2.5-hour circular trail also leads from the Bechergass car park back to its starting point. Named stops include Heselwasenhütte, Becherberg, Katzensteigle, Brandmiss and Naislach. The three circular walks therefore have similar stated walking times, but differ in their starting points and routes.

A hiking trail signposted by the Black Forest Association runs through a Black Forest valley between Oberreichenbach and Hirsau. The stated starting points in Oberreichenbach are the town hall or the Gasthaus Löwen. Unlike the circular trails described above, this route is characterised by its course between the two towns.

Cycling tours: circular route and itinerary

An approximately 20.5-kilometre circular cycling tour starts at the car park by the church or at Oberreichenbach Town Hall. It leads via Altburg, Würzbacher Kreuz, Würzbach, Sauerbrunnen and Schmieh, and past the Habichtsfang wetland, before returning to Oberreichenbach. Another cycling tour starts at the Oberreichenbach sports ground, follows the Eselsträßle and Kohlhütte, passes the Habichtsfang biotope and leads via Würzbacher Kreuz towards Altburg. When choosing, you can consider whether you prefer a circular route with a stated distance or the described itinerary towards Altburg.

Winter option and other local highlights

When there is sufficient snow, the Oberreichenbach Sonnenloipen are groomed, with circular routes in all four districts. Snow conditions are the deciding factor for this winter option. In Oberreichenbach’s lower village, at the corner of Schulstraße and Brunnenstraße, there is a boules court built by residents. Oberreichenbach Sports and Adventure Park is located next to Mößackerhütte.

Your planned daily routine can be a helpful first guide when choosing accommodation: the hiking suggestions include approximate walking times, one cycling tour gives its distance, and the cross-country ski trails depend on snow conditions. This lets you tailor your accommodation search to the activities you want to define your stay.
