Bieberehren is located in the Tauber Valley on the Romantic Road. The town combines a distinctive riverside landscape with chapels, half-timbered buildings and cycling routes. This gives you a range of options when planning your trip: you can focus on historic buildings, explore the surrounding area on foot or include Bieberehren in a cycling tour.

Rivers and routes around Bieberehren

The Steinach and the Gollach flow into the Tauber near Bieberehren. The rivers frame the landscape; walks along the Tauber and in the Gollach Valley are also listed as local activities. Woodland paths and visits to the former watchtower add to the options. This makes it possible to plan days with different highlights, without focusing your stay on just one attraction.

The cycling routes also offer a clear guide. Four routes pass through Bieberehren: the Tauber Valley Cycle Route, the Romantic Road, the Rad-Achter and the Gaubahn Cycle Route. The Gaubahn Cycle Route follows the former railway line from Bieberehren to Ochsenfurt, connecting the Tauber and Main rivers. Its first stage runs from Ochsenfurt via Aub to Bieberehren, where it joins the Tauber Valley Cycle Route. This gives you a choice of both a specific stage and several routes that pass through the town.

At the junction of the Liebliches Taubertal cycling route, there is a shelter for cyclists and walkers. Sun loungers are located at several points along the cycle route and at the bathing area by the old sports ground. If you are planning to use these facilities, check their current condition before your visit. When choosing accommodation, you can decide whether cycling routes, walks or historic sites should play a greater role in your stay.

Chapels, half-timbered buildings and local history

Several buildings bring the town’s history to life through specific dates and architectural features. The town hall is a two-storey half-timbered building dating from 1612. A historic wayside shrine on the banks of the Gollach dates from 1432. On the road towards Buch stands a tower ruin whose origins probably date back to the 15th century. In this case, the date remains an estimate.

The Marienkapelle (St Mary’s Chapel) is documented as early as 1401. Its features include Baroque altars, ceiling paintings, pictures and figures, as well as an intricately designed pulpit. The Hl. Kreuzkapelle (Holy Cross Chapel), dating from 1850, stands on the Eulenberg. The Kunigundenkapelle, in turn, is an important late Romanesque building, probably constructed around 1230. These different dates offer history enthusiasts a range of points of interest, from a probable medieval origin to later chapels and their furnishings.

The Bieberehren BilderBuch cultural trail connects Bieberehren, Buch and the Kunigundenkapelle. It brings place names and an important building together in a cultural trail. If you would like to focus your stay more on culture and history, this connection gives the individual buildings a broader context.

Planning cycling routes on a larger scale

For a broader view of the Main-Tauber district as a travel destination, the cycling map provides another way to plan tours: it lists 18 circular and point-to-point routes ranging from 24 to 240 kilometres. These include the five-star cycle route “Der Klassiker” (The Classic), the Tauber Valley Cycle Route, the Wine Cycle Tour and the Main-Tauber-Franconian Rad-Achter. This district-wide selection is distinct from the four cycling routes that pass through Bieberehren. Local routes may be the deciding factor when choosing a destination in the area; if you are planning a longer cycling trip, the selection across the Main-Tauber district offers an additional framework. Check route information before setting off.

Bieberehren is therefore a suitable destination to look for if you would like to include historic buildings and activities along the river and cycling routes in your plans.
