Discover Bodolz: Panoramas, chapels and orchard walks
Accommodation in Bodolz
Get to know Bodolz through its views, outdoor activities and village traditions. Three local walks offer different views of the village. There are also chapels, paths on the hills and seasonal activities related to cycling and fruit. You can plan your stay around what interests you most: perhaps walks and viewpoints, or a bike tour at selected times of year.
Viewpoints overlooking the lake and Alps
Herrmannsberg, Taubenberg and Hoyerberg are hills that are easy to explore on foot. From their viewpoints, panoramic views extend across Lake Constance to the Austrian and Swiss Alps. The 481-metre-high Taubenberg is home to St. Michael’s Chapel. Together, these hills combine prominent landmarks in the landscape with sweeping views across the lake and mountain range.
Local walks and trails
Three local walks lead to different views of the village and offer a way to explore Bodolz on foot. The “Bayerischer Bodensee” Nordic walking park also has a range of routes. In Bodolz, these routes invite you to go for a bike ride or a walk along well-signposted paths. The activities differ not only in how you get around, but also in the way they show you the area: the local walks reveal different village views, while the park’s trails can be used on foot or by bike. Check current route information locally before setting out.
St. Mark’s Chapel and St. Michael’s Chapel
St. Mark’s Chapel is in Enzisweiler, a district of Bodolz. St. Michael’s Chapel stands on Taubenberg. From there, you can continue your walk, enjoying fine views, to the “Sieben Wege Kreuzung” in Bodolz Forest. If you are interested in the chapels, you will find two distinct landmarks: St. Mark’s Chapel in Enzisweiler and St. Michael’s Chapel on one of Bodolz’s hills. You can plan the walk from St. Michael’s Chapel to the junction as a continuation of your hike.
Bike tours with different views
The Lake Constance Panorama Cycle Route in Lindau takes you to viewpoints by the lake and in higher areas of Bodolz. From April to October, small groups also set off near Enzisweiler station on tours through Bodolz and the surrounding area, accompanied by local cycling guides. This offers two different ways to explore by bike: a route with viewpoints by the lake and at higher elevations, and guided group tours. Check the current availability of guided tours before your trip.
Orchard walks and village festivals
From May to August, Bodolz fruit growers and schnapps distillers invite visitors every two weeks to take orchard walks through their plantations. The orchards provide the setting for these walks. Village festivals include the raising of the maypole, the Bodolz children’s festival in early July and the Advent-Stadl market in November. The timing of your trip and the current dates matter for both the orchard walks and festivals, so check the relevant dates in advance.
