Fuldabrück lies on the northern foothills of the Söhre, considered one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Hesse. In Bergshausen, there are also trails and experiences along the Fulda. This gives you a choice of different focuses when planning your trip: a circular tour through the districts and countryside, or activities on the water.

The Söhre and Route Options

The Fuldabrück Loop is an approximately 18-kilometre circular tour. It passes through all three Fuldabrück districts, the Söhre and the area along the Fulda, combining climbs with flatter sections. Most of the route is paved; a shorter section follows firm, unpaved forest tracks through the Söhre. Check trail conditions before setting out, as they can change.

The long-distance cycle route R 1 also passes through Fuldabrück. Here, substantial sections of the R 1 are also part of the Märchenlandweg. The Märchenlandweg also features historical references to life in Fuldabrück in the past. This lets you choose between an approximately 18-kilometre circular tour and following a long-distance cycle route; the Märchenlandweg also connects the cycle route with local history.

Experiences on the Fulda in Bergshausen

In Bergshausen, the St. Johann Promenade runs along the Fulda. The Fuldaaue Bergshausen is designated as a local recreation area. A foot and cycle bridge connects Bergshausen across the river with Dennhausen/Dittershausen. These three places offer different points of reference for planning: the promenade and Fuldaaue are in Bergshausen, while the bridge provides a link for pedestrians and cyclists between the two districts.

A water-skiing course on the Fulda near Bergshausen is open from May to September. The Fuldabrück Water Ski Club offers water-ski training, taster courses and bookable shows in Fuldabrück-Bergshausen. Beginners and advanced participants can try water skiing; the necessary equipment is provided. Check directly with the club in advance to confirm which activities are currently available.

Getting There and Planning Your Trip

Fuldabrück is connected to the local transport networks of NVV, KVG and Deutsche Bahn. Line 17 offers hourly or half-hourly services to Kassel, Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe ICE station and Guxhagen. As timetables can change, check the connection for your travel date in advance. This will help you coordinate your journey with your plans for cycling, the Fulda promenade or water skiing.

When choosing a place to stay in Fuldabrück, you can first consider which of these experiences will shape your trip. The loop provides a clearly defined route, R 1 offers the option of following a long-distance cycle route, and water skiing is available seasonally from May to September. If water skiing is your main focus, check the activities directly with the club; for other plans, the route and landscape features can help you decide what you would like to focus on.
