Discover Neu Isenburg: History, Green Spaces and Activities
Accommodation in Neu Isenburg
Neu Isenburg can be discovered through a wide range of interests: the history of the Huguenots, the history of Zeppelin airships, urban green spaces and sports facilities appeal to different kinds of travelers. When planning a trip, you can first decide whether you want to focus on historical insights, time outdoors or physical activity.
Huguenot history at Haus zum Löwen
The Haus zum Löwen city museum presents 300 years of local history across three floors as an interactive historical journey. Its topics include the founding and development of the village, the theology and way of life of the first Huguenots, and economic and demographic developments, illustrated through selected trades and crafts. The building was originally the first inn for the Huguenot settlers in Neu Isenburg.
Zeppelin Museum and memorial
Neu Isenburg’s two municipal museums are Haus zum Löwen and the Zeppelin Museum in Zeppelinheim. While the city museum covers the history of the town, the Zeppelin Museum presents the history of Zeppelin airships through scale models, photographs and exhibits. In this way, urban development and airship travel offer two distinct ways to explore the past.
The Bertha Pappenheim Memorial offers another perspective. Its small library includes books by and about Bertha Pappenheim, as well as books about the former building of the Jewish Women’s Association and Jewish life. Some books can be consulted or borrowed on site. The regional council describes Haus zum Löwen, the Zeppelin Museum and the memorial as places that document important historical and cultural aspects of Neu Isenburg’s development.
Green spaces and nature
Bansapark and the historic BansamĂĽhle form a peaceful urban green space for outings and walks, with public art and a pond. Bansapark is open to the public year-round and admission is free. BansamĂĽhle was built in the early 18th century as a watermill and later developed into a Baroque country estate with formal gardens.
The Gehspitzweiher offers a different way to experience nature: it is an important breeding and resting site for waterbirds and a habitat for dragonflies and amphibians.
Sports, swimming and activities
Sportpark Alicestraße is Neu Isenburg’s largest sports and recreation facility. It offers organized sports, independent training and outdoor activities for all age groups. Registered users can borrow exercise equipment such as dumbbells, balls and mats from the SportBox.
The Waldschwimmbad has woodland meadows, a shaded area with a playground and table tennis, as well as swimming, non-swimmer and paddling pools. Alongside the training and activity options at the sports park, the pool complex offers a choice of different pools and places to relax.
For a culinary touch, the museum’s Apfelweinstube invites you to try local Isenburg apple wine.
Use your interests as a starting point when looking for accommodation
When looking for accommodation, it helps to decide first what kind of trip you want: will your stay focus mainly on local history and museums, walks and nature watching, or sports and swimming? Tailor your search to the experiences that matter most to you.
