Get to know Beckum through a range of experiences: a scenic circular cycling tour leads through the cement district; the Höxberg Panorama Circular Trail takes you through natural and cultural landscapes and into the town’s history; and the Pütt Days bring a town festival to the town centre. You can shape your stay around a cycling tour, a hike, your own discoveries in town or watersports.

Discover Beckum by Bike and on Foot

The 27-kilometre Beckum Cement Route is a scenic circular cycling route through the Beckum cement district. It offers insights into the past and present of industrial cement production, passes abandoned industrial heritage sites and winds through landscape oases. Industrial history and landscape together shape the character of this tour.

If you prefer to explore Beckum on foot, the Höxberg Panorama Circular Trail offers another clearly defined option. The circular trail is 14 kilometres long and brings Beckum’s natural and cultural landscape, as well as its town history, to life. You can choose one of two sections that can be hiked separately: the approximately 8-kilometre Höxberg Adventure Trail or the approximately 6-kilometre excursion to the megalithic tomb. You can also walk the entire circular trail. The Höxberg Panorama Circular Trail is suitable for families but is not accessible.

Town History on the Höxberg

The 23.30-metre-high Soestwarte tower stands on the Höxberg. It is one of the last witnesses to the medieval town fortifications and defensive structures, and is one of Beckum’s landmarks. Its height and its place in the history of the fortifications add another historical dimension to the Höxberg Circular Trail.

Town Festival and Self-Guided Discoveries

The Pütt Days take place every year on the weekend of the first Sunday in September as a town festival throughout Beckum town centre. The festival includes a stage, market stalls, activities and food and drink. If you would like to plan your visit around the Pütt Days, check the dates and programme for that year’s event.

The location-based Beckum AR city tour offers another way to get to know Beckum. The virtual mascot, Kater Murr, guides visitors to the town’s sights, allowing you to explore Beckum at your own pace. If you plan to use the tour, check the app’s current availability in advance.

Watersports at Tuttenbrock Recreation Lake

The TwinCable Beckum water-ski cable facility has been at Tuttenbrock Recreation Lake since July 2013. It is suitable for beginners and professionals. If waterskiing is part of your plans, check the facility’s current information before visiting.

A Different Perspective on Warendorf

Warendorf also offers its own historical and event-related highlights. The historic old town is home to more than 300 listed buildings. At the annual stallion parades in Warendorf, more than 100 stallions are presented in 20 professionally narrated displays over three days at the end of September. These experiences belong to Warendorf and complement Beckum’s attractions with a distinct focus of their own.

Find the Right Accommodation for Your Trip

When looking for accommodation in Beckum, it helps to decide on the focus of your stay first: the Cement Route is a longer circular cycling tour, while the Höxberg Panorama Circular Trail lets you choose between two sections that can be hiked separately or the entire route. For a visit to the Pütt Days, the recurring festival date is an important guide; Tuttenbrock Recreation Lake adds watersports to the options.
