If you first decide what kind of stay you are looking for, you can then explore the individual offers more purposefully.

Me(h)er Fahrrad on MĂĽhlenstraĂźe offers bicycle hire and repair services. Confirm that it is currently operating before your trip. The Witthohn holiday farm also hires out bicycles; repair services are offered by Me(h)er Fahrrad. This distinction may be useful if you want to consider both bicycle hire and repair services when planning.
The St. Bartholomew’s Church in Wesselburen is near Norddeich. The church has stood on this site since before 1200. Its distinctive appearance includes a bulb-shaped roof turret; the interior is characterised by late Baroque furnishings. A concert programme adds to the visit. As concert dates can change, check them in advance.
Dithmarschen: history and the Stone Age
Dithmarschen also offers a range of attractions for those interested in culture. Its museum network brings together 19 professionally and voluntarily run museums in eleven locations. The Dithmarschen State Museum in Meldorf takes visitors through 1,200 years of Dithmarschen’s history, from the period of prosperity of the farmers’ republic to rural everyday life in the 1960s. The museum thus combines an insight into the political and economic history of the farmers’ republic with rural everyday life in the 1960s.
At the Dithmarschen Stone Age Park, practical activities include flint knapping, archery, making Stone Age jewellery, lighting fires and baking bread. The activities on offer may vary depending on the programme. The neighbouring Stone Age Forest in Albersdorf covers around 40 hectares of natural outdoor grounds and includes nine original archaeological monuments. The site is permanently free to access; check briefly before your visit whether access is possible.
The Wadden Sea and a range of hiking trails
In Friedrichskoog, on the south side of the harbour, you will find the National Park Station, an information centre with a national park exhibition. Guided mudflat hikes led by local national park mudflat guides with expert knowledge are also available along the Dithmarschen coast. At low tide, the diverse life of the Wadden Sea becomes visible. Tides and tour dates vary, so it is worth checking the current schedule before making plans.
The hiking trails in Dithmarschen also vary in length and format. Near Lunden, the “Mötjensee and Sea Eagles” route is an easy 12.79-kilometre circular trail through low-lying terrain. The first stage of the North–Baltic Sea Hiking Trail also runs through Dithmarschen and is just under 40 kilometres long; the entire long-distance trail comprises five stages from Meldorf to Kiel. This comparison gives you a concrete idea of the distances without treating the two routes as equivalent.
Cabbage and regional events
At the KOHLosseum’s cabbage workshop, demonstrations followed by tastings take place on Tuesdays to Thursdays at 2, 3 and 4 pm. From 1 November until Easter, only the 2 pm demonstration takes place. Check the times before your visit, as the programme may change.
During the Dithmarschen Cabbage Days, the programme throughout Dithmarschen includes farmers’ markets, town festivals, and sporting and cultural events. Individual events and dates change.
