Damp: Beach, Wakeboarding and Viking Golf
Accommodation in Damp
A wide, fine-sand beach defines Damp; alongside it, wakeboarding, a sauna complex and Viking golf offer options for different kinds of holiday days. When planning your trip, consider whether the beach, active pursuits or a mix of exercise and relaxation will be the deciding factor. These preferences can also help narrow down your search for accommodation and the right base for your stay.
The Main Beach and Days by the Baltic Sea
Damp’s main beach is wide, has fine sand and is about 1,300 metres long. Its approximate length provides a concrete guide for anyone planning a beach-focused stay. The DLRG (German Life Saving Association) closely supervises the main beach; lifeguard supervision may be seasonal. Check the current conditions before swimming. One of Damp’s two beaches is designated as a year-round dog beach. If you are travelling with a dog, factor this designation into your plans and check the beach rules in force before your visit.
Activity and Relaxation
A full-size cable wakeboard park is located right next to the Ostsee Resort Damp. The park features several obstacles on relatively calm water; activities are available from beginner to expert level.
Viking golf offers another kind of active break: the 18-hole adventure course is right on the beach promenade. The course layout and access may change, so it is worth checking the latest information before visiting. If you are looking for a quieter focus afterwards, Damp has a sauna complex with eight different saunas. Some of the saunas and the relaxation room offer views of the Baltic Sea. As wellness facilities may change during renovations, check the latest information in advance.
Regional character is also reflected in the food: Gut Damp restaurant serves Northern German cuisine with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant concept and menu may change. The cuisine and wellness facilities thus add two more themes to consider when planning your stay, alongside the choice between beach and activity.
A Place for the Beach and Exploration
St. Elisabeth in Damp was built in 1983–84 and consecrated on 23 June 1984. The church is generally open daily and welcomes visitors.
