Discover Mühbrook on Lake Einfelder See
Accommodation in Mühbrook
Mühbrook combines lakeside scenery, nature watching and a recurring cultural event. The village borders the northern shore of the 168-hectare Lake Einfelder See and also includes the southwestern shore area of Lake Bordesholmer See. This means two lakes help orient your trip planning, each offering different landscape views and activities.
Lakeside scenery and nature watching
The Lake Einfelder See area includes a nature reserve with reed beds and floating-leaved plants. Rare waterbirds can also be watched there with binoculars. If you enjoy taking a closer look at the landscape, you can use them to observe not only the open water but also the shore vegetation and wildlife.
The bathing area in Mühbrook on Lake Einfelder See has a bathing pontoon, which was replaced in September 2020. Swimming is seasonal; check local bathing conditions before your visit. For a different perspective on the lake, take the Sehpunkte circular trail around Lake Einfelder See. It is about eight kilometres long and signposted.
Information boards along the trail cover the lake’s history, its flora and fauna, and water levels. The route therefore offers more than a view of the water: it also draws attention to the lake’s nature and development. Individual signs may change.
Low German theatre in March
A cultural highlight is also part of the annual calendar in Mühbrook: the Speeldeel stages plays in Low German every March. The specific performance dates may vary. This gives you a different point of reference when planning your trip than the seasonal bathing area: the theatre takes place in March, while local bathing conditions should be checked.
The wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde destination
The wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde destination opens up a broader view of the district’s landscapes and trails. Rendsburg-Eckernförde has 55 kilometres of Baltic Sea coastline and a 1,000-kilometre network of signposted cycle routes. The district is also home to four nature parks; the 180-kilometre Nature Park Hiking Trail passes through all four. The Baltic Sea coast offers a contrast to the lake scenery.
The 98-metre-high Aschberg also offers a different perspective on the district’s landscape: in good weather, the panoramic view extends to the Kiel Canal, Eckernförde Bay and the state capital, Kiel. The different route lengths are easy to distinguish: the Sehpunkte circular trail is about eight kilometres long, while the Nature Park Hiking Trail is 180 kilometres long. This means a loop around Lake Einfelder See and a longer hiking route through the nature parks offer options for different hiking plans.
If lakeside scenery, nature watching and a seasonal bathing area are your priorities, consider Mühbrook. If you would also like to include district-wide cycling and hiking, add the wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde destination to your plans.
