Discover Bürstadt
Accommodation in Bürstadt
Bürstadt combines a historic trail with insights into geology, local history and active leisure. You can shape your stay around your interests: the trail focuses on architectural history and local landmarks, while the Geological Garden turns your attention to the history of the Earth. Play and sports facilities add further options to these discoveries.
History along the trail
The “Historic Trail” in Bürstadt is a flat circular route of about one kilometre, with eight stops. The historic town hall marks the beginning of the route; it was built in 1608. The trail also leads to Bürstadt’s oldest half-timbered house, dating from 1733. Along this manageable route, you will encounter a range of historic landmarks.
The town hall and local history museum offer further insights into the town’s past. Display cases in the town hall feature archaeological finds from Bürstadt, Bobstadt and Riedrode; the selection may change. The Bürstadt Local History Museum presents exhibits on the everyday and working lives of earlier generations. The exhibition may also change over time.
You can visit the local history museum by arranging an appointment with the municipal administration in advance, so plan your visit ahead of time. St Michael’s Catholic Church is another historic landmark: after being rebuilt, it was reconsecrated in 1926. The Historic Trail also features a historic draw well dating from the 18th century, which is a natural monument.
Geology and routes at your own pace
At the Bürstadt Geological Garden, a footpath about 250 metres long illustrates around 500 million years of the Earth’s history. Topics covered there include historic boundary stones and rock finds. The trail and the path through the Geological Garden differ in both length and focus: one centres on eight stops highlighting local history, while the other focuses on geological time periods and finds.
There is also a specific option for a cycling trip: the “Bergstrasse naturnah – Rheinschleife” route passes through Bürstadt towards the Lampertheimer Altrhein. Local conditions may affect your ride. If you include cycling in your plans, check the route and signage in advance.
Play, sport and leisure
The alla-hopp! facility is an innovative playground where children and adults can play and explore. There is seating in the park near the facility. Visitors will also find accessible toilets there. If accessibility is important to your plans, check the situation on site before your visit.
Bürstadt offers further places for sporting activities. The education and sports campus covers more than 68,000 square metres and features modern sports facilities. The Freizeitkicker grounds are used as a skate track and dirt park. Leisure options also include the Waldschwimmbad; before visiting, check whether its opening and seasonal access fit your travel dates.
When choosing accommodation, it can help to first decide whether you want your stay to focus mainly on culture, geological discoveries or physical activity. Then compare the location and facilities of specific options with your own travel plans.
