Graal-Müritz
Accommodation in Graal-Muritz
Graal-Müritz combines a 350-metre-long pier with nature and cultural attractions that reveal different sides of the town. In the spa forest, interactive stations and sounds made from natural materials invite you outdoors; the local history museum tells the story of the town and its people. There are also events in the rhododendron park and a discovery trail along the promenade. The aspects you would like to focus on can also help guide your search for suitable accommodation during your stay.
Spa Forest: Discover Nature and Sound
Graal-Müritz Spa Forest is a 13-hectare natural area and has been officially recognised as a spa forest since 19 April 2020. It is open year-round, at any time, and free of charge. This means you can plan a visit without having to consider admission times and fit the spa forest into your own daily schedule.
The spa forest offers a range of experiences: the mindfulness trail has six interactive stations and QR code activities for visitors. In the sound forest, you can create gentle sounds using instruments made of wood and other natural materials. The trail’s stations and activities offer a different focus from trying out the sound instruments yourself—two different ways to experience the natural surroundings.
Promenade, Baltic Sea Knowledge and Local History
The Graal-Müritz discovery trail runs along the paved promenade. Oversized models of Baltic Sea animals and plants bring nature to life, while illustrated information boards explain their ways of life and distinctive features. Large models and explanatory boards sit side by side along the trail, offering a tangible insight into the Baltic Sea’s animal and plant life.
The Graal-Müritz Local History Museum presents the town’s history and culture. Topics include its founding, residents’ living and working conditions, and the development of the spa industry. It also covers storm surges that destroyed three of the town’s piers. Today’s pier is 350 metres long; the museum offers a different perspective on the town’s history.
The museum also honours painters and writers Professor Müller-Kaempf, Professor Karl Rettich, Lyonel Feininger, Hans Fallada, Franz Kafka and Erich Kästner. They spent their summers in Graal-Müritz. The museum’s subject matter thus ranges from living conditions and the development of the spa resort to its famous visitors, whose summer stays are associated with the town.
Park, Events and Boat Trips
Graal-Müritz Rhododendron Park has been a listed monument since December 1986. Readings and concerts take place in its concert pavilion. The park’s history is thus combined with a cultural programme featuring different types of events. The municipality of Graal-Müritz also holds an annual pier festival with fireworks in July. If you would like to plan your trip around an event, check the specific event dates for your stay.
Trips to Warnemünde aboard the MS Baltica can depart from the Graal-Müritz pier. The pier is therefore not only a landmark structure, but also a possible starting point for a boat trip. If you are planning such a trip, check the current timetable in advance.
