Sietow-Dorf is right on the Müritz. The beach, harbour and Sietow Wandelweg offer different perspectives on the water and landscape; there is also an Early Gothic church and storytelling activities. When planning your trip, you can choose between spending time by the shore, taking a walk, going on longer bike rides and visiting cultural sites.

Müritz shoreline, harbour and fish

Sietow-Dorf has a beach and is right on the Müritz. The modern harbour offers waterway travellers a place to stop and invites visitors to go on boat trips and fish. This provides different ways to spend time by the water: take a break on the shore or enjoy an activity from the harbour. At the harbour restaurants, fishermen serve freshly caught and smoked fish. The offerings at individual restaurants may change; check what is currently available when planning a specific visit.

The Wandelweg: two circular route options

The Sietow Wandelweg is about 9 kilometres long, follows a figure-eight route and returns to the starting point. At the intersection by Station 10 (lemniscate), there is a shorter circular route option: it covers 6 kilometres and returns to the village. The difference between about 9 and 6 kilometres can help you choose how far you want to walk. The Wandelweg follows easy-to-walk field, forest and meadow paths. For longer bike rides through the countryside, the Müritz Circular Cycle Route offers another touring option.

Church, stories and harbour festival

The Sietow church is an Early Gothic fieldstone building. The description refers both to the architectural style and to the building material used. Another cultural offering is the storytelling church, where visitors can listen to and tell Bible stories, life stories, legends, fairy tales and folk tales. Listening and telling your own stories are equally important.

The harbour festival in Sietow also offers a glimpse into local tradition. It takes place every year on the last weekend in July, lasts two days and is considered a well-established tradition. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the specific festival dates when making your plans.

A look at the Mecklenburg Lake District

The wider travel destination of the Mecklenburg Lake District offers further landscapes and nature-related attractions. The Müritz National Park is characterised by forests, marshes, lakes and expansive meadows. Its hiking trail explores the park’s landscape types and special features in nine stages: it runs along lakes, through ancient forests, past inland dunes and to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours there, including guided visits to the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest in Serrahn and tours from the water.

Another nature attraction in the Mecklenburg Lake District is the Damerower Werder bison reserve, where visitors can observe the animals. A forest adventure trail there features climbing opportunities, an ant house, an exhibition with touch-and-see panels and a dendrophone. These regional attractions differ from the experiences in Sietow itself and offer an additional perspective to help you plan your stay.
