Nottensdorf: Views, leisure park and old farmhouses
Accommodation in Nottensdorf
Nottensdorf offers several different ways to make the most of a stay: the leisure park with its observation tower, routes through the town and a townscape characterised by old farmhouses. This gives you a choice of different themes for your trip, including active leisure, views, cycling and the built environment.
Leisure park, sports and views
Nottensdorf Leisure Park offers a range of sporting activities; individual offerings may change. It is considered a leisure destination for families and a place to relax for the surrounding area. The park is located northeast of Nottensdorf’s built-up area, along the B 73. It includes a 28-metre-high observation tower. From there, the view stretches across the Elbe valley from Stade towards Hamburg and over the orchards of Altes Land. Sports and views are two different reasons to consider the park when planning your day. Before travelling, check the conditions under which the tower is accessible.
Routes through Nottensdorf
The Geestrandweg trail passes through Nottensdorf and runs from Horneburg to the Moore nature reserve near Buxtehude. The Steinroute is a cycling route that also passes through Nottensdorf between Bliedersdorf and Hedendorf. Further along its route, the Steinroute also highlights the following destinations: Horneburg Handicrafts Museum, Isern Hinnerk, Alter Marktweg, Garden of Stones in Harsefeld, Daudieck archaeological educational and hiking trail, Gut Daudiek and the megalithic tombs of Grundoldendorf.
The difference is useful when choosing a route: the Geestrandweg focuses on its course through Nottensdorf and its endpoints in Horneburg and the Moore nature reserve. The Steinroute is specifically a cycling route and lists additional destinations along the regional route. Its details may be updated; check the latest route information before setting off on a bike ride.
Townscape and nature
Old farmhouses shape Nottensdorf’s townscape. In Dohren, an old beech forest lies within a nature conservation area of around 50 hectares. Daubenton’s bats have been observed there. Alongside the routes and leisure park, visitors can also explore the town’s built heritage and a specific aspect of its natural environment.
The wider setting: Stade
The broader travel destination of Stade encompasses a wider landscape. The district of Stade is characterised by extensive marshlands along the Elbe, the cultural landscape of Altes Land, river valleys in the geest and untamed raised bogs. These landscapes offer opportunities for local recreation and nature watching. The district also has a network of 1,000 kilometres of signposted cycling routes. Check the total again if you are using it for current route planning. The landscape ranges from extensive marshlands to untamed raised bogs.
Consider whether your stay should focus mainly on Nottensdorf or on the district of Stade.
